Subject: Space Marine 10th Company Captain: Power Armour or Carapace?

Is 'Eavy Metal Calling?

Title says it all. Just wondering if the Captain of the 10th Company (specifically Raven Guard) would wear Carapace or Power Armour? Obviously, both would differ from the standard, but is there any precedent on this?
Thanks in advance.

Confessor Of Sins

Probably Power Armor. He's not crawling through mud and three feet of snow to get a look at the enemy, he's at the command post piecing everything together if he's even anywhere near the action. He might just be stationed at the Chapter homeworld handling recruitment, training and deployment of scouts.
Hmm... well, he might use Carapace on training jobs if he prefers. He's a Captain, after all. He can use whatever he has a right to use, even TDA if he's got the honors.

Cheers, I think that just about clears it up. I am intending to build this as a model so may well do him in Scout armour (just for something different) if that's what he's likely to use on an actual mission. I'll probably end up doing a PA and Carapace version eventually anyway.

In regards to canon precedent: one of the (power armoured) Captains in the Masters of the Chapter box is the Master of Recruits.

Actually, if you go to Forgeworld, they have the 10th Captain of the Raven Guard, Korvydae, as a mini. He has a TH and JP, and wears artificer armor.

I was going to say, if it is your own "home brewed chapter" you can have him wear whatever you wanted. Sometimes, for self made chapters, kit bashing is really the way to go make up those specific semi-unique characters.

Ah, for some reason I thought he was 8th Co. Might have to dig out a spare Thunder Hammer.

Resolute Ultramarine Honor Guard

And he still makes assault marines troops. Raven Guard are the on,y ones with access to assault marine troops now...kind of funny, now that I think about it.

Depending on the mission.
A captain has access to many weapons and more rare items as required.
Captains are free to take what they like within reason and needs.
But if a job required a elite scout, or such well would not be above getting dirty in the mud and wearing light scout armour and such.
A captain is a true veteran able to handle any task required

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |
