What should I equip my next Leman Russ with? I am going to probably use it with Pask in a Punisher, so will benefit from his Warlord Trait and Orders. My most common opponent will be Tau, but I like to be ready for any opponent. I would prefer if the choices could be limited to the LRBT, the Eradicator, the Vanquisher and the Exterminator, but others would still work.

If you have a Punisher, you have the other two cannons from that set. Plasma is cool.

Even before the lemun russ nerf and the hydra nerf I always liked the exterminator but didn't field it much. Its an option I field a lot now. VS Tau I wold probably put heavy bolters as the sponsons and the hull mounted spot.

To me the punisher is overpriced for what it does as is and with pask its very over priced. I don't have my book with me but If i remember right you can take 2 or almost 2 basic exterminators for the price of 1 punisher with pask.

To be honest if your using pask and your using his warlord trait you really should take an executioner with plasma sponsons. Rerolling the gets hot means this tank is putting out a lot of ap2 s7 shots. Which is great for taking on the different battle suits and light armor.

Problem with the lit though is youre taking a punisher against tau. They will kill pask before he gets it range. Pask and wyverns can deal an insane amount of damage so expect the long range tau guns to focus on them so be prepared for that.

I agree with you on the executioner. Best tank to go alongside pask.

I disagree with you about tau killing pask before he gets in range though.

Tau anti tank vs high AV is pretty bad right now. The only long range option they have against AV14 is the hammerhead, and that is only a single shot per turn.

The only other viable option would be fusion battlesuits, but they need to be close to do damage.

Just don't let turn your russes sideways and tau will really have a hard time taking them out.
Edit: I was thinking Russes were AV12 on the side, but they are actually AV13, so even if you do turn them sideways the str 7 missile spam won't do too much damage.

The eradicator with bolter sponsons is the only one worth taking from the heavy support choice.
But for any non MEQs, the eradicator is the best tank, and here's why:
The LRBTs are just not very good against other armour, they all fire blasts or one shot, and punisher's are terrible without Pask's rending for basically all roles.(Las and Auto heavy weapons teams are the best ant-tank option)
This means you want the perfect non MEQ infantry killer, so it comes down to the Eradicator and Punisher.
The punisher gatling gun has to roll to hit, and then at S5 AP- it doesn't instakill, gives armour saves, feel not pain rolls, and cover saves.
Whereas the nova cannon is longer range, S6 AP4 and ignores cover. This will insta-kill any non MEQ infantry (denying FNP to those pesky zombies), near guaranteed, unless you have a bad scatter.
Then you have 9 S5 AP4 shots for extra anti infantry fire.
Basically I hate how overated the punisher is. (But with pask it becomes quite good, but that's an extra 45 points or something)
