The more I play them, the more I come to like the Knights. Has anyone tried a Chaplain with them? I feel like the added Toughness on the Chaplain and the rerolling hits would really be a bonus.

Interrogator Chappy is an auto-include when I'm taking Knights.

Zealot helps as well as Auspex, conversion field and digital weapons (if you have the points).

Get your models on the table and looking good!

Never used any of those. What are the benefits of them?

Chaplains are more fluffy than a librarian, but still adds more punch to the unit.

I disagree with the suggested items though.

Auspex is used in the shooting phase. If you use it then you cannot run. The unit will usually be charging or running, so the auspex won't get much use.

The conversion field is a waste too, as the chaplain has a 4+ invulnerable save anyway. The points could be better spent elsewhere.

Digital weapons are ok, but you need to have a weapon that is worth re-rolling, which leads us to....

The Mace of Redemption
Give an Interrogator Chaplain terminator armour, swap his storm bolter for the mace and give him digital weapons.
For 180 points he is a little expensive, but his 4-5 str 7 ap3 attacks are quite formidable, especially with re-rolls to hit, and helps to cover the weakness that DWK have to MEQ units.

That actually sounds pretty damn awesome, and he is still 10 points under Belial. I believe he's even around the cost Asmodai.

Its an easy conversion to do. I built my own.

I used the flail from the DWK box to represent the mace, and the chaplain in terminator armour model. Simple hand swap is all it took.

I rarely use him outside of fluffy games though, as I will usually take my librarian or chaplain (with the mace) on a bike instead to get Ravenwing Command Squads.

There's definitely some bad stuff in the Dark Angels codex, but one thing they do right is Deathwing Knights if you want a melee unit, and the Interrogator Chaplain makes them all the better especially with that loadout. People complain there's no permanent AP2 but it isn't necessary.

Sure, I never said otherwise. I like my DWK.

However, the librarian is a superior choice over a chaplain most of the time.

He is cheaper, can get the same buffing effect through divination (not as reliable, but more powerful as it lasts longer than 1 round), or could alternatively add more utility to the squad. Invisible DWK for example.

Warp charge points help to deny too.

And while it may be really pricey add Ezekiel and his +1 WS book of Salvation.

Personally I don't use ezekiel, as I would rather take bike/terminator/PFG wargear.

If I did use him then I think he would be better off in normal terminator squad with TH/SS. The reason being that +1 WS doesn't do much for a squad who has WS5 already. Most things in the game are WS3-4.

Putting him with the WS4 terminators however will improve their to hit rolls against all other standard MEQ/TEQ.

If facing WS5 stuff like daemons, then putting him with the DWK would be viable.

Really simple made of redemption conversion. Get a spare mace, cut the mace head off and get two equally sized angel icons/statues. Flatten the back and glue them back to back on the end.
Viola

This is the statue I mean btw

Fair enough. Also, did you mean swap his Crozius for the Mace? Mace and Stormbolter seems better lol

If you swap the crozius with the mace, then you do not get +1 attack in cc, as you only have 1 cc weapon.

The extra str 7 ap3 attack is worth much more than the 2 bolter shots imo, especially on a squad that doesn't have anything else to do in the shooting phase.

Do Stormbolters not count for the +1? I thought they did, unless you had an Unwieldly, like a PF.

They are not a pistol, so no they don't count.

Edit: nvm, posted a rule thread and saw where they don't count.
