Wife and I were talking about this last night, building a dreadnought ship with a crew of your choosing and it led to a talk about what you'd put in your ideal ship.

So:

Captain, 1st Officer, 2nd Officer, Bridge Crew x4, Doctor and Engineer. Oh and pick your ship, rule of cool > power. Try to pick like for like for the roles.

My choices:

Captain: The Sisko, hard as nails, punched out Q, Bajoran Jesus, great battle commander, make an amazing aubergine stew.

1st Officer: Spock, cool, calm, smart as hell, would be a good foil to Sisko's bristling temper just as he is to Kirk's swaggering.

2nd Officer: Jadzia Dax, 9 lifetimes of experience, diplomatic, scientific, tasty in combat and in uniform.

4 Bridge Crew:
Mr Garak, wise-cracking smarmy assassins are always useful.
Data, very versatile, lacks real officer use IMO, but huge store of information and superhuman strength.
Worf, useful in combat situations and as the target of Garak's 'wit'.
T'Pol, good all rounder, really hot.

Doctor: Flox, great bloke, always level headed, not some colossal ego like the hologram or Bashir and not some shrill ethical harpy like Crusher.

Engineer: B'Elanna Torres, had to have a long think about this as I was initially going with Scotty, but Torres was able to really work miracles, slipstreaming tech, tacking on all manner of alien devices to the ship.

Ship: The D'Deridex Warbird, despite it's weak rules in AW, is a big, nasty ship, with a cloaking device. I also consider it the most beautiful starship in any scifi.

Who would you choose?

Captain : William T. Riker - Down to earth, common sense, good poker face.

1st Officer - Jadzia Dax, political, level-headed.

2nd officer - Data - Information officer, works well with Riker.

Bridge Crew -
Worf - Tactical officer, combat specialist.
Kira - hot temper, comes up with a good cloak and dagger strategy in a pinch.
O'Brian - Good tech officer, knows his way around a starship.
Tom Paris - excellent helmsman, has a good sense of humor, could definitely see him and Riker getting along well.

Doctor: Beverly Crusher - A well-rounded, ethical doctor. Doesn't have any ulterior motives, is direct and upfront with patients.

Engineer: - I think I'd probably have to use Torres too, lol.

Ship: Would probably have to take the Aventine-Class Heavy Cruiser from the Federation.

Have to say, I gave serious consideration to 7of9, borg database is vast, she's strong and very smart. Unfortunately I could only go with one 'finding humanity' story and Data, with his Pinocchio-like searching to become a real boy, was stronger, smarter and more useful.

She also possesses great aesthetics... but I have T'Pol for that!

Well if we are going off the rule of cool then it needs to be Klingons all the way

Captain: Kor D'Har Master - the never was, nor will there ever be a greater Klingon.

1st Officer: Lord Krug - a younger Krug a model Klingon officer, but not quite ready for his 1st Command

2nd Officer: Commander Korris - younger and ready to prove himself to the empire

Engineer: Bu'Kak - lets face it Klingons need a hottie too

Mess hall cook: the fat guy who ran the Klingon restaurant on DS9 - every good adventure should have a fat gut

For a ship set them up in a brand new K'Tinga class along the Federation boarder. Post TOS, but pre Motion Picture. When Kirk is diapering cadets, Kor is still conquering territory for the Empire, and giving the Feds a bloody nose every chance he can.

Captain: Jonathan Archer - mad as a bycicle, known to put the welfare of his dog before the safety of his crew, shows racist tendancies towards Vulcans (yeah, Kirk was the same towards Klingons, but they'd been in a Cold War for almost his entire life, and a Klingon murdered his son).

First Officer: Chakotay. Man of zero personality, able to suddenly become an expert on whatever topic is required on a week by week basis, as long as it can be tenuously linked to Native American culture.

Second Officer: Harry Kim. Achieved the singular distinction of a reprimand for having sex with an alien, despite the best efforts to be similarly recognised by James Kirk, William Riker, et al.

Bridge Crew:

Travis Mayweather. He's been in space, don't you know. Any other personality traits? Nope.
Deanna Troi. Passed one exam and outranked Data, based entirely on ability to kill Geordie if necessary. As Geordie will not on board, her special skills may not be required.
Hoshi Sato. Afraid of everything.
Janice Rand. Serves coffee.

Doctor: Phlox. Shows colossal inability to understand evolution, and happy to let an entire species die whilst holding the cure in his hands.

Chief Engineer: 'Trip' Tucker. Learned everything he knows about warp engines by working on motorboats.

Special bonus Neelix: Neelix. Self-appointed morale officer of the ship. Sticks his oar into any business on the ship and happy to offer advice regardless of experience or skill.

Ship: Would it even matter?

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

The mighty Colicos. You'll have no argument from me. RIP Baltar... I still hope they'll do a 'Big 3' combo card for Kor, Kolath and Kang.

I see what you did there...
I'm personally a fan of B'Etor, but she gets about a bit and would only break my heart.

Even though the Klingon gods are dead, I see Kahless transcending any comparisons to the mortal world and is on deity level. Much as we view Hercules, or Sigmar in warhammer.

Done. You'll be as amused as I was to hear that my wife, when looking over my shoulder at the screen and seeing neelix, exclaimed 'by the bulging eyes of Gowron!'

Captain: Captain Ransom, yeah he was portrayed as a bad guy but, he was willing to sacrifice EVERYTHING to get his crew home, way better than Janeway

First Officer: Worf. Usually boring, but I think that he would do well backing up Ransom

Second Officer: Nog. would be trying to constantly trying to one-up Worf and it would be awesome!

Bridge crew:
Malcolm Reed, Blowing gak up erry day
Sulu, time for a barrel roll
Hoshi Sato, give me five minutes and I can talk to anybody
The emergency command hologram, because come on, hell yeah!

Doctor: EMH mark 2. I'm gonna need some comic relief and with all the action my crew will probably see I like the idea of a seemingly incompetent doctor who actually knows his stuff

Engineer: Rom. Can fix just about anything with nothing more than an old spatula and a plasma torch, also you get leeta along with the deal

Ship: Nebula class science cruiser. or a neg'var class warship

Ransom is a pretty terrible captain, yeah, he sacrificed everything, including his ethics... That's the one thing you need to keep to remain respectable.

And Mr. S. Baldrick, who is Sigmar? lol.

Ransom?!? Wow, there's someone I never thought I'd see anyone choose. Bloke was a spineless git who'd retreated into sitting in his office plugged into a beach VR. I'd have thought Worf would dismiss him as a coward and batleth his head off in the first couple of days out of space dock.

Nice choice in Nog and also in the Nebula, like a chibi Galaxy.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume that Ransom is executed for treason against the federation and his officers all get promoted. lol. So, by default, Worf is captain.

That made my night.

Ok how about this:

Captain: Emergency Command Hologram (The Doctor)

1st Officer: Holographic Kira w/Russian accent from "Our Man Bashir" episode of DS9.

2nd Officer: EMH mark 2 (Andy Dick)

Engineer/Medical officer: Holographic Dr. Zimmerman

Put them and their all holographic crew on Nova class as an emergency hospital ship.
I figure the ship should have all kinds of emergency power reserves because it doesn't
need to use life support very much.

I think I'm going to have to be boring...

Captain: Picard
1st Officer: Spock
2nd Officer: Malcolm Reed.
Engineer: Miles O'Brien
Doctor: The Doctor
Crew 1: 7 of 9
Crew 2: Sulu
Crew 3: Word
Crew 4 (Morale and cheeriness): Ezri Dax

Ship would either be the Sovereign class or the Defiant. Probably Sovereign because trying to fly the defiant in STO made me cry a little...

That's going to be a very somber ship...

Other than the occasional massive arguments blowing up between the Doctor EMH and O'Brien! I can only imagine how they'd get on, likely very badly indeed.

Personally, I think Ezri and the Doctor could make comedy gold.
