So, having heard this on a podcast, I'm actually going to see what people think.
What are your top/bottom units of 2014? And why?
The Top unit for me is Nagash. He's a monster without any weaknesses. As much as I hate playing against this type of model, he's still good. As a force multiplier, he's unparalleled, and he can then HKB or do D3 wounds to anything in combat.
The worst unit of 2014 is anything Tree Spirit. You never saw them in the last book, and you don't really see them now. I'm starting to feel that they're just kept as a token for the past and I want more to be done with them.

Nagash has a weakness: he costs 1,000 points and is on a base that's nearly impossible to miss with cannons and stonethrowers. A much better example is Karl Franz Ascended. 2++ against magic, 4+4++ against everything else, and he insta-pops most anything he comes up against. In addition to being on a much smaller chariot base, and having flight. Oh and stubborn.
The flip side is that he's also 800 points, which is two steam tanks and a unit of demigryphs. 9 T5 wounds also isn't the most difficult to drag down with focused fire, and although he's a beast against multi-wound models he'll take a while to chew through steadfast infantry.
Honestly, if I'm going to pick a winning unit from 2014 it's Waywatchers or wild riders. They won't blow you away on their own, but they brought a book that once struggled well back up the ranks in terms of competitiveness by giving them an answer to a problem they never had before. Wood Elves can now compete against top-tier armies, rather than being relegated to the depths of the roster with Tomb Kings and Beastmen.
Worst unit I'll give to KFA. Not because he's bent, but because he's obnoxious. 800 points of "throw him in your opponents' faces and make them deal with it." Beyond the pure challenge of taking him down, he really isn't particularly fun to play against. He's not a synergy piece beyond the massive IP bubble (like Nagash is), and he doesn't really bring much to the table beyond a beatstick to stuff down your opponents' throat. Not the sort of unit that improves the game.

The worst unit is always going to be Bragg the Gutsman. He's just soooooooo bad.

Was the ogre book released in 2014? I can't actually remember.

Well, when you do the best/worst of year x, it turns out that I have to be more specific than I would be normally.

Well, yeah... Because models released earlier are still around, and might still be the worst models that year...

Best/worst units released in year x is a specific timeframe. Best/worst unit of year x covers all models available to be used that year.

Top
Karl Franz Ascendant. Better than Nagash, absolute killing machine. I've heard he's also not very fun to play against due to his lack of weaknesses, but he sure seems like a competitive choice.
Bottom
Putrid Blightkings. Well, pretty much all the 2014 releases have all been good (at least in my mind), these guys just strike me as very redundant because of all the other options that Chaos armies have have to fill that role. I doubt they'll see much use as they are, unless its just by people who love the models so much they want to use this mediocre option.
By the way, which podcast is this? Sounds interesting.

No. I thought this was a running tally of worst unit. I don't think anything released in 2014 was actually bad.
Bragg was released in 2011 along with the Ogre book.

Sticking just to 2014 releases:
KFA is not better than nagash. I have to give best to Nagash.
It's not KFA Vs Nagash. It's KFA Vs Nagash and those 10 blood knights he summoned that aren't worth any points to kill, and that terrorgeist that isn't worth any points to kill, and those marghasts that aren't worth any points to kill, all suped up on Vanhels, hellish vigour and what not. KFA on his own is a beast, nagash is just an incredible force multiplier.
As far as worst I'm gonna say Morbidex Twiceborn. He's just not useful. Sure he makes nurglings better but are you really ever taking nurglings in the number to make him worth it? The other 2 riders are much better & at 385 pts I'd rather have a tricked out sorc lord.

Darkavenger:
I kid I kid.
Karl Franz ascended is pretty much a badass but again not as good as nagash.
I'm not sure what the worst would be since nothing is really outrageously unplayable but I'd probably say the treeman maybe they kinda suck or the dryads their rules made them worse.

No. They're the models of the year they were released in. The metal Wood Elf characters are not models of 2014, but they still exist.

Whatever. I wasn't sure if you meant released this year or just in this year in general, and it wasn't just me. So maybe you could've been a bit more specific, is all I'm saying, because what you wrote can be read two different ways.
