So what is the general opinion of the new Blood Angel's Codex ?
I have heard mixed reviews of it so I wanted to know what any Blood Angels players or anyone in general thought about it ?

It is pretty well right in the middle. It has highs and lows and one can build forces that are pretty damn potent. It just doesn't shine the way Codex: Space Marines does. Had they given the BA access to simple stuff like the Land Speeder Storm (the only Scout Dedicated Transport) and a little more Anti-Air (I would have been happy with the Stormtalon), it would have been a lot better.

....... well with formations etc. it has turned out so far to be alright , at least in my opinion.
As far as CC armies go.... well it might be as good as we are going to get in WH40k now.
also as a bonus we finally got we wanted with Dante, not to mention with powers from Libbys and Priests he can become insanely good.

Out of interest, how much does it cost to buy all the rules that were released for it?

You can do the stormwing formation and get two storm talons and a storm raven. It's a data slate that can be found online.
As far as the actual codex goes, I've been pretty happy with it. I'm still testing out which HQ and elites combos I like best, but so far it's been good to me.
If you want all the rules you'll need the codex, shield of Baal: exterminatus, and two white dwarfs.

People who are saying the BA codex isn´t powerful enough are most likely ignorant of the fact that the general powerlevel is being brought down in the game, easily perceivable from the last 5 codices released. Eldar and Tau remain in the old spectrum, but when they´re updated one day I´m 99% certain they will follow this same pattern. One should compare the BA against the other new codices, not against all of them as the game is in a transitional state at the moment ( quite obviously I might add ) and the direction is good, asfar as I´m concerned.
The BA codex is just fine and offers a lot of variety for you as a player, especially in the beforementioned context. Sure, Waveserpent -spam and other gimmicks might destroy you but it destroys everyone else just the same. For now.

Probably tied for the best 7th edition codex, with wolves. That puts it middle of the pack as far as overall books go. Its power builds can contend with those of the vanilla marine dex, but it doesnt have as many.

The problem is it's not likely they're gona get updated in the near future. GW's planning to concentrate on FB.

So goes the rumor mill. However, my FLGS sells WAY more 40k than WHFB, and my GW store has a lot more 40k stuff than WHFB. I highly doubt they will neglect their golden goose

That's the exact reason they want to concentrate on FB

I don´t think those two will be updated in the near future either. But, that´s how it is. Atleast the rest are very playable against eachother, I play the bottom tier ones ( DA & CSM ) and I´ve been having really good games regardless against the new codices.

hahaha yeah I hear you. But it's not very easy to get people to switch games, or to play a second game -- especially not 40k/ WHFB where the model counts are high.

I agree, though I don't really have a problem playing with Eldar, Tau and Necron with friends, as they simply don't field armies which are super annoying
To the original question -- I quite like the new Blood Angels codex and formations that come in the WD/Shield of Baal.

Actually this codex can be very effective against tau , seeing as how CC is not what tau do well at all and the Blood angels are really good at it with this book its obviously a bad match if you can get to the Tau. Now with the Storm Raven formation you can have a chance of getting there quickly with turn 1 charges.
Also using things like the Relic Jump pack that only let units with interceptor snap fire at you.
I'm not saying its an easy match but much better than it was for sure.
Also I know that Tau can have a hard time with Tyranids. Tau are still good but not as stupid good as they were when everyone else had no update.

You don't need to be good at HTH to beat up Tau. You have to be able to live to get there. And the BA have the same problem there as most everyone else.

Ok, let me re-phrase that. We have ways of closing the gap quickly or one way of avoiding interceptor fire or ways to spam 2+ fast moving armor save units.
