Subject: How to fight Tau?

As a CSM player, who regularly faces multiple riptide armies, missile spam and farsight bombs, Be'Lakor is a deadly beast and a jerk to deal with for my opponents. No matter how you throw it at your opponent, invisibility makes all things shooti, cower in fear and pray to gods they hadn't though existed before.
First suggestion, get a Maulerfiend or two, run a Land Raider or two, which ever one you decide, the LR should be filled with CSM something choppy, I suggest investing in a squad of Blood letters as battle brothers can embark on each others transports. They are dirt cheap, cost effective and scary as hell for Tau to deal with due to AP3 melee attacks. Dirge casters are a must. Now the only thing to worry about is the Riptides.
My main method of dealing with riptides is to ignore them and kill their support units first, (pathfinders/tetras) essentially any marker lights on the board. Without them, they become less threatening. Still scary if they have the Ion Accelerator simply because of the Nova Charge 1/3 large blast direct hit str 9, but that isn't much of a threat if you are locked in combat with other units.
If need be, throw a Nurgle lord on a bike accompanied by Nurgle spawn at it, force saves, kill it during his turn, move onto bigger threats. I say this because the Riptide can't instant death any model in the unit due to them being T6, and overwatch isn't much of an issue if they're invisible / their marker light support is gone.
Hope this helps!

Hmm very interesting i forgot about Battle Brothers embarking on each others transports and how would you handle the bloodletters if the rhino got blown up or wrecked? use them as a distraction?

I'm converting up a landraider Achilles with a havok squad of plasmaguns inside. Armoured ceramite to ignore melta makes you much safer from suicide fusion suits, the main cannon is great for clearing out pathfinders and firewarriors during the approach and when you get close enough you can use the multi meltas and jump out the havoks for 10 plasmagun shots.
Quite expensive at 470 but good dependable firepower to complement a spawns/hounds rush. The only thing that you don't want to see is longstrike.
I think having something good at killing firewarriors (drake, heritek eradicators/wyverns etc) helps because it lets you initially clear out pathfinders and also soften the blow of that rapid fire turn the tau will have that decimates even hounds/spawn.

Why not go for a Crimson Slaughter squad of chosen with preferred enemy. They're much more effective and almost never die to overheats. Can also chop stuff in mellee when needed as they still have 2 base attacks and BP + CCW, thus 4 attacks on the charge. With preferred enemy.

Hmm well its certainly an option. I take the combi plasma on the sarge and think that you will probably only get 1 round of good shooting. The Achilles doesn't have an assault ramp so it is probably a case of disembark, vaporize something then get vamporized yourself. Mostly I am against shooty armies (Tau, Eldar, Marines) so the chances of being charged are quite low and I'm almost always going to prefer shooting 4 plasma guns to charging myself. So the question is whether prefered enemy is worth it (and being troops). Id certainly consider it depending on how many points I had left before t my philosophy is usually to buy another squad of spawn (or whatever) and drop all but the most essential upgrades.

I wouldn't put them in a rhino :-P the only upside to being CSM over Bloodletters, or rather Daemon in general, is the fact you have shooting capabilities. Bloodletters in land raiders with a Bloodreaper champion toting an at Initiative ap2 axe of khorne spells death to virtually everything you can get into combat with
