if you were building a powerful necron list to take to a tournament which would you chose? The tournament is allowing lords of war and all sorts of other douchey-power builds so I plan on bringing the same.

i already own a transcendent and he typically does well. please note though in this tournament he CANNOT bring hellstorm templates.
so, id run him with double seismic assaults (6d6 krak missiles taken twice) and then I would give him transliminal stride (18" movement that does a D hit over everything it moves over).

trouble is, the c'tan is going to cost around 900 points. the tournament limit is 1500.
so my other option is take a Gauss Pylon. its only 400 ish and it throws out three D shots with Interceptor.

there aren't a lot of flyers that scare me, but knowing i can pulverize them immediately makes me happy. getting to snap at ground targets sucks but its still not a bad chance of getting a hit. it can also do 2D6 S6 shots that will cut through marine armour. not the best weapon, but being a super tough vehicle, it can probably hold a deployment zone all on it's own. secure an objective, blast flyers. use the smaller weapon on anything that gets close.

the c'tan is scary but twice the points. would like to get some opinions on what might be better? assuming I'll have to face a lot of knight titans too.

C'tan, since the Pylon has Skyfire.

The C'Tan needs more absolute hard counters. Even then, it's still REALLY a pain in the ass to kill. Sure, he costs more points. He's still a ridiculously better option, not to mention what the post above said as well.

You have to build your entire list around making best use of the Pylon, but it can be done.

The most important thing is making best use of that Invulnerable Save. Warriors, Scarabs, and anything high points value that doesn't already have an invulnerable (Sentry Pylons, Tomb Stalkers and so on come to mind in particular)

Oh, and most important of all: If you can land on a Skyfire nexus, you can turn the Skyfire off.

I'm almost certain you can't take a C'Tan power twice. Bit strange to not allow Hellstorm templates but a 15" marker is fine. I'd go for the C'Tan: Pylon was good but since Skyfire got nerfed it's just an expensive Hydra (yes, it pretty much guarantees the flyer you're shooting at will die, but it's pretty crappy against everything else).

Since you assume you'll be up against a lot of Knights, the C'Tan is better than the Pylon in every way.

You can, it's the Tesseract Vault that's more limited in that regard.

Actually, the Apocalyptic Mega Blast was nerfed to 10/7/5.

The Gauss Pylon also works against Skimmers.

But the T-C'tan, unlike the Vault, is allowed to take a power twice.

I hate stealth nerfs like that.
They should make their own blog with a list of important changes.
We've played enough Apocalypse without even knowing they changed it.
