so 2 questions regarding searchlights:
Rules seem to indicate that you don't need line of sight to use the searchlight - as such a barrage weapon can target something it can't see, then light it up with a searchlight. correct, or am I missing something?
secondly, if a vehicle with a searchlight uses power of the machine spirit to shoot 2 targets, can it light them both up?

RAW it says "it can, after firing all of its weapons, choose to illuminate its target with the searchlight. If it does so, it also illuminates itself."
Page 98 of the Core book.
So no, it does not state anything about LoS. It only cares about the weapon's ability to target.
Essentially, yes, your lights work that way, even if it doesn't make any sense in the real world.
Similarly, the weapon only cares about the targets, it makes no mention of number of targets. I would be inclined to give you both targets again despite how silly it is.

Counter-point. It specifies "target", not "targets". As such, it only lights up one unit.
Fluff-wise this makes sense as vehicles only have a single light and it would be tricky to light up two different targets simultaneously.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

This is because typically a unit may only fire at one target.

And when using things like " PotMS", it states you may fire at another target (Than your primary target)
The Primary target is lit up, not the secondary ones chosen by special rules.
