This is based on the premise that there are less experienced members of the Reclusiam (Chaplains) and more experienced chaplains (Reclusiarchs) in the same way that there are less experienced of the Librarium (Codiciers & Lexicanums. The latter is absent for some reason) and more experienced Librarians (Epistolaries). By default, Space Marine librarians in a tabletop army are Codiciers and they can upgrade to Epistolaries for a certain amount, which is shown by their gaining of a mastery level, as they are more experienced. The proposed rule is this: For a fixed amount (30-50pts) a Chaplain (Less Expierinced) can upgrade to a Reclusiarch (More Experiened). Doing this would give them "Zealot On Steroids" if you will. It would still make the unit fearless, but it would also give them mega-hatred. On the subject of what this would be, I have 2 ideas.

1. Re-Rolls to hit throughout combat
2. Re-Rolls to hit & to wound on the first round of combat

Thoughts?

This is already a thing in the Reclusiarch dataslate.

And DA allready have Interrogator-Chaplains. And I think skolirvarden talking about Dataslate - Reclusiam Command Squad. This dataslate have enchanced version of Zealot.

Dark Angels ~ 7350pts (about 5800 painted);
Ultramarines ~ 4700pts (about 2700 painted);
Imperial Knights ~ 1300pts (about 800 painted);
Skitarii and Mechanicum ~ 2000pts (about 1800 painted);
Assassins ~ 850pts;
Tyranids ~ 2000pts

OK, but that is just one of the ideas. What about re-rolls to hit and wound on the first round of close combat?

Re-rolling hits during all rounds of CC is far more useful than hits and wounds in the first round

Maybe, so, but that's beside the point.

Yeah, but this doesn't require a command squad and a razorback.

Now it just sounds like you want your idea to be praised because it was your idea, even though it already exists in game.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

Old school Black Temp. could take a reclusiarch. I would love to have that back into the SM big book as a BT only thing (seeing as they would really be the only ones to use them in any numbers). You could just kinda copy pasta them form the old book with a bit of an update. +1 ws +1A Maaybbee 1 more wound, zealot to all units with in 6 inch and give ferrous charge to his squad, all that at about +30 points to a regular chap?

That would be awesome, but I'd probably crank the points a bit more with those rules. Ever played HoR Kill team with a chaplain? 6 inch zealot bubble (which is how zealot works with him in kill team) is surprisingly insane.

Pretty good, but what about blood angels? Priests give +1 WS and they all have furious charge.
