Alrighty folks! Here's your challenge of the day!

A friend and I are going to Adepticon this year and we decided to have a bit of fun and play in the x-wing team tournament. That being said, my own x-wing experience is limited and his is nonexistent.

So I'm turning to the experts to tell us what we need to purchase to get our lists ready!

We would like to play rebels, so let's concetrate on rebel faction stuff!

The lists must be between 70-80 points per player with the combined list being no more than 150 points.

I already own a core set and a b-wing, so there's that. Ideally the lists would be a bit simpler to use while still giving our opponents a good time while they curb stomp us. We know we aren't going to win. We're going to have a good time, meet people and get some quality games in!

Best advice is fly what you are comfortable with, and fly with the models you own.

Practice with the list you will take, save you having to look up rules or check cards, i tend to play with a list 4 times then change it about.

I know you're right, the problem is that I dont own enough for 70-80 points and I'm not sure what else is out there.

What about a reunion tour list? One of us takes Han, the Mellinium Falcon and Luke in an X-Wing while the other takes Dash, the Outrider and Wedge in an A-Wing?

Thoughts?

Tycho you mean? Unless this tournament has a rule that lets you take pilots in different ships (in which case it's time to break the game)?

Anyway, two pieces of advice:

1) Fly ships you're comfortable with. The power gap in X-Wing isn't so big that you can win purely on list strength, a well-flown "weak" ship is much better than a "strong" ship you don't know how to fly properly. Don't take bad ships/upgrades, but if you've been having success with a particular list then keep doing it.

2) Understand how the extra 50 points changes the metagame. More ships on the table means fewer places for arc dodgers (phantoms, interceptors, etc) to hide, more cases of focused high-PS shooting killing low-PS ships before they can return fire, less space for swarms to maneuver, etc. As a new player this means keep your total number of ships down (no more than three per player, or one small + one large) and don't take any fragile arc dodgers.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
