Orks have been a curve ball for my gameplay. Even after half a dozen matches, not sure how to handle them. Very nice to have that experience
I had one match where an ork player spammed escorts. I destroyed the escort and then laughed as his line ships all fled. apparently he hadnt bought the ork "commisar" upgrade
Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two
Well the Orks are interesting and they appear to have fixed all the matchmaking bugs/crashes I referred to earlier, but bloody hell they need to get their anti-cheat software in order pronto.
Just had a 400pt Assassination as the Defender, and my opponent had TONS of blips, so I assumed he must be trying Escort spam....right up until simultaneously every one of them launched torpedoes and I got hit by about 9 totally-accurate Nova Cannon shots and my flagship instagibbed...
Had one earlier where the Chaos Light Cruisers were stripping my Battlecruiser's shields in a single volley, that was interesting.
Never understood folk who cheat at multiplayer, I mean literally the whole point of it is to pit your skill against that of another human.

All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

that's nmot nesscarily cheating, if he was using the blood axe favor, even his light cruisers had nova cannons

I watched a zillion videos and i love it, alas my Laptop is ancient and i don't have the finances at the moment to upgrade it, i know the next DLC will be Space marines, i hope they will also release tyranids and the other races.
That's all well and good, but her shadow is very clearly shaped like The Deceiver:
Spoiler:
Her Lexicanum hints at no-one really knowing her origin, so it's entirely possible she's just a fragment of the Deceiver manipulating events in the universe.

Given that C'tan and the Warp are completely at odds with each other on a fundamental level I doubt it.
Furthermore, that shadow actually doesn't appear to be being cast by the crone. That portion of the wall is actually between the viewer and the crone, so she couldn't be casting the shadow.

The Blackstone Fortresses (which are intrinsic to the Gothic War and Abaddon's consultation with the crone) are alluded to have been weapons created by the Old Ones to use against the C'tan. If that's true, it makes sense that the Deceiver would want to manipulate someone into getting a hold of them so they didn't fall into the hands of the Eldar or someone else who knows what to do with them. As for your second point, I think it's pretty clear the shadow is meant to be the Crone's, even if the quasi 2D animation doesn't portray it properly.
Even if it isn't, which I doubt, it seems pretty undeniable whose silhouette it is, so he's got to have some involvement; even it he's manipulating Moriana to manipulate Abaddon.

That doesn't really make sense.
If you want to keep items from getting discovered by your enemies then the last thing you want to do is draw attention to them. The Imperium and Chaos fighting over the Blackstone fortresses would definitely catch the eye of the Eldar. Or you'd ensure that if attention was drawn it would be to destroy them and not just capture them.
And this whole thing is based on Old Cron fluff. New cron fluff wouldn't even allow for the Deceiver to be able to do something like this.

I don't really see how it doesn't make sense.
To me, it makes more sense to want to have these weapons accounted for and in a position where they're no longer a threat to you. Manipulating an ignorant pawn who doesn't know their true purpose, can use them against your enemies, and wouldn't have any reason to turn against you, is much smarter than than have them just sitting out in the nether for more knowledgeable people to pick up. Plus, in a hilarious move, maybe you can even get that idiot Abaddon to destroy your enemies while he's at it.

There is absolutely nothing in the new Necron fluff that precludes C'tan breaking free from their shards and going off to do whatever. In fact, I'm pretty sure there's a blurb in the Deceiver Shard entry that specifically mentions it "sending entire systems into turmoil." So, clearly there's some Deceiver shards running around pulling strings.
Also, I don't see how it's only based on Oldcron fluff when we've got the silhouette of the Deceiver floating there conspicuously in the cutscene.

Battlefleet Gothic was created before the new Necron fluff. Since this video game is being created by a development team that - by all accounts - appears intensely faithful to the classic tabletop game, I think it's safe to assume that BFG:A will use the fluff that existed at the time of the original BFG's release, just like on the tabletop. EDIT: I should also mention that the actual events of the various BFG conflicts take place mostly before the "awakening" of the Necrons, so this approach would make sense.
At the very least, they'll need to do that for some of the Necron stuff if they ever add them to BFG:A, since old Necron fluff (Inertialess drives, no ordnance, etc) is kinda crucial to the unique feel of the Necron fleet in tabletop BFG.

Isn't it established pre-ret-Necron that the Deceiver sent Abby on the path to finding the Blackstones? I seem to remember that being the case.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Yes, but speculation about the Crone being the Deceiver has been a common theory for years. This all happened well before the existence of the new Necron fluff and right around the time that the original Necron fluff came to prominence. People seem to think that the new Necron fluff just retconned the entirety of the old stuff, but different sources have shown time and time again that that is not the case. That said, if this game is considered "canon" like other official 40k games (Dawn of War, Space Marine) then it would seem to confirm old speculation about the Deceiver manipulating Abaddon; even if it's just a shard of the Deceiver to fit with current Necron fluff.

I can't remember if it was ever 100% confirmed but I think there were multiple allusions to it. There were enough clues and hints that a lot of people (including the game developers for BFG:A, apparently) were convinced it was the case.
After downloading and playing waaaay too long last night I can definitely say I like it.
Although I am still learning what all my buttons and options do...
My biggest challenge is to combine my table top memories/knowledge with the way they want you to do skills in this.

1. Is this strictly PvP or is there a single player option?
2. Not being a fan of RTS, is there a way to slow-down/pause gameplay to give orders, etc? (this question is of course dependent upon the 1st question)
Thanks

Press the space bar to "activate tactical cogitators"- this works with all factions. I don't think it works for multiplayer.
There is a single player campaign or single player skirmish for you to have a pop at.

I gotta say, after some initial coming to grips for a few games, I am now ~ 8-10 hours in and am greatly enjoying the game. Simple and satisfying, and quick enough to sneak into even demanding schedules. Looking forward to the full release -
I'm playing the heck out of skirmish to figure stuff out.

And additionally, Tactical Cogitator mode works in multiplayer as well as essentially a "hidden" ability - either player can activate it and slow time for both, but it only lasts for a set period of time and then the player that activated has to wait several minutes before they can do it again. A fair compromise I think.

Some of my games really feel like all they come down to is micromanaging my ships to keep them out of the ork's way as they try to ram all their ships into all of my ships.
Everything else I love, but sometimes those battles become a complete chore.

Somewhat yes - it's an almost perfect replica of the tabletop game
