My question is, what do Tyranid Shrikes look like really? Are they more serpentine like the other flying Tyranids such as the Harridan, new flying Tyrant, Harpy, and Hive Crone, or just Warriors with their upper arms replaced with wings(and keep their "hooves")?

I think of them as much larger Gargoyles, with Warrior type heads. Much like how Termagants are described as the 'smaller kin' of Warriors.

Forgeworld has. They're wings for a Warrior. In the background they are a mutated version of Warriors. Nothing snakelike about them I'm afraid, but there's nothing stopping players from making winged Raveners and calling them Shrikes.

Well, my point was more that the other flying Tyranids have a serpentine theme going on- why would shrikes be different?

Have they been described in any BL books? I don't remember them being described in the Anphelion Project other than what they did.

They're described in IA4-2 pretty directly. They aren't evolved from some other organism. They evolved directly from Warriors to overcome some containment field thing. The other bugs were created as flying creatures, many of which don't need legs because they never land. The Shrikes were Warriors that need to take flight, so the Hive Mind adapted wings, reduced the carapace and weight and used them in the fight.

I think I read something involving Shrikes in that Chaplain Cassius book but I can't be sure. I know there were a lot of flyers...

They just look like a Flying Warrior. Think of them like a Flying Hive Tyrant, no difference but the wings and scythed feet.

I thought there were already shrike models? Don't they just look like winged warriors?

Gargoyles are also just evolved Gaunts. They just dont have large hind-legs that would allow them to walk on the ground efficiently. They also have the bioplasma "extension" and a scythed tail. The metal models represented this pretty well, they where of the same dimension as regular Gaunts.

The new plastic gargoyles are way shorter but their heads are bigger, which is unfortunate because it makes them look a bit silly.

But the flying Hive Tyrant has that long serpentine look to him with a much thicker tail-


Even the gargoyles have a more stream-lined lower body than standard gants(no "hips").
