I found this
( http://wizkidsgames.com/blog/2015/01/19/star-trek-attack-wing-resources/)
Personally I think it is a good thing. I know people will lament the loss of the flagship cards from OP play, but look on the bright side now they have an excuse to make new ones Come on Kazon flagship
I think it will be good for OPs to to have a cycle of these kind of things and you can always do what you want in home games.

It's a good idea for newer players being on more of even level for ops but think they could just release them freely or something so new players can get hold of them, be intresting to see if still keep releasing different resources

As someone just picking up the game this feels like a great idea although too bad I just spent money on the flagship cards from eBay Saturday What about other OP items, do those ever see general release of some kind?

I'm personally glad and think it makes great sense. I also think it's part of a plan by WKs to stop the 'dreadnought' and borg builds and up the number of ships taken in a fleet to encourage sales.
I do worry about them nuking the prize ships though...

They really should've given more thought to the fighters though, forcing someone to shell out $30 for one of each of the retail ones sucks hard... My budget is already limited, I can't afford to spend expansion funds for fighters when I already have them... :/

You can still use whatever you want in casual games. 18 months is a good amount of time for such things. It gives people plenty of time to use their resources, but helps those people just getting into the game. This should also help curtail the crazy eBay market for certain resources.

I think this can only be a good thing. Cycling is fairly standard practice in the industry and this is a fair and balanced way of doing such things. Kudos, WK. I do feel they're trying to listen to the community - not always consistently, not always successfully, but baby steps.

Though on the bright side, that may be when they start to release them for retail.

loss of resources is no big deal in OP's. It's not like we can't use them anyother time still.
Loss of prize ship horrible idea
making them official releases great idea

Given that the next ship I want, the Aj'rmr, is going on ebay for 40+ bucks, I'd love them to release them as standard retail... but how long it would take them to do so is concerning. Or if they'd do it at all...

WK's effectively killed the Flagship cards under the new tournament format. It's hard to find a ship in the 30 pt range that you would want to throw a 10 point upgrade on (and still have enough points left over for a Captain and other upgrades).
The resources were, in general, pretty 'meh'. I think the order of use (before the suggested tournament format) was Flagship, Officer Cards, Captain cards, Fighters, everything else. The point costs for them were way, way out as well. With the exception of the Officer cards, you paid either 5 points or 10 points for the resource. If I'm paying 5 points for an Attack Die or Counter Attack die, it should be added to my attacks, not replace one of my dice. I've always loved the attack die and counter attack die, and felt like it should be a staple in the game- kinda like a wild card die.
Other resources... just ugh. My group started to use a rule that you can use the resources provided in an OP for free in that OP. For example, during RiF 2, the participation prize was Advanced Targeting System. Before the first round, the TO handed out the cards and we all got to use them during the OP. That will be the first, and last time we ever see anyone use that resource.
If resources didn't count towards the total fleet cost, or at the very least, the 50 point cap on ships under the current tournament format, it might get us to start seeing some of these other upgrades.
On another note- did anyone actually read the WK's statement?
When we first launched Star Trek: Attack Wing we didn’t even know how many releases there would be, let alone how long the great player turnouts would persist at local stores. Over the past year, as Star Trek: Attack Wing has experienced sizable increases in audience, we have reprinted popular ships and waves to make sure new players have access to all the game elements.
Sounds like they planned a very specific run of ships and OP's, then made no plans beyond them. Could this be the reason we have such an inconsistent run of ships, cards, and OP's? Could it also be the reason they really dragged their feet on creating an official FAQ? Why devote resources (time, money, employees) to a game that might not exist in six months? Seeing them plan out to at least May 2016 is a positive indicator that WizKids will continue to support the game for at least another year and a half. Or it could just be that they added 18 months to the last OP Resource.
WizKids might not have realized and underestimated just how successful STAW was going to be and is. They are probably scrambling a bit right now trying to make future plans for the game. After all, all the ships released up to a couple months ago were from their other Star Trek Hero Click game. Their might be a few more left (quite a bit IIRC), but now they have to carefully consider game balance and longevity of the game. Could we be seeing STAW 2.0 in the next six months? If the revenue numbers stay consistent and the game remains popular, then yes, STAW 2.0 maybe coming sooner rather then later...

My choice of resources by importance were Flagship>Fleet Captian>Fighters>Counter Attack Die>Officer Cards>Sideboard>Elite Attack Die>While 'Come About'/Skilled Helmsman' was marginally effective, it and the rest of them were useless.
Tam it was apparent they had no plans beyond june this year otherwise we would have heard about Wave 17 and beyond. I too have a feeling a new set of rules will be out to cover all the changes and hopfully new waves announced soon.

There is a BIN/Best Offer one up for 35 at the moment, while still pretty spendy, I didn't want to play the waiting game for it to come down since it was one of the two Romulan promo ships I really wanted.

To me this seems typical of WK. They've done similar things with their previous games - Mage Knight & Mech Warrior Dark Age. They probably did the same for their Pirates game.
I'm expecting them to come out with Attack Wing 2.0 somewhere around March, just in time to kill everyone's enthusiasm...

As long as it is just a cleaned up rule book that incorporates the new rulings I think it would spread enthusiasm. People would be much happier with one place to go to for rules instead of rule book, forum, and FAQ. Sometimes it does seem like a bit much to keep track of, but from what I understand X-wing has a large FAQ too. I don't know much about X-wing, so anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong. So we are not alone in the lengthy rules department and the STAW forum is much easier to keep track of than say GW FAQs and more frequently updated.

X-Wing does have a larger FAQ, but it's collected in a much nicer document, and has a pretty regular update schedule to reflect the latest rulings.

That seems like a good format. I think WK will start updating the FAQ more regularly now. Given their rapid release schedule it would make sense for them to update every 2-3 waves. That will give them time to gather questions and then implement them into the FAQ.
