Please answer poll. I think it will be Tigurius. Don't worry, Calgar will not die. (as in GW killing him off)

Old 1st Company Captain IIRC from the 2nd or 3rd edition. Anyways according to at least one bit of fluff, Agemman is next in line. Sicarius is also an option if Agemman declined.

Chapters aren't often lead by Librarians are they? So not Tigurius. Probably whoever is 1st company captain I assume.

Why does everyone seem so hell bent on Tigurius being CM lately?
He's not eligible, he's Chief Librarian.
Cassius isn't eligible, he's Master of Sanctity.
Fennias Maxim isn't eligible, he's Master of the Forge.
Corpus Helix isn't eligible, he's Chief Apothecary.
Telion is just a sergeant.

It appears that everyone thinks Agemann will take over. Not surprising, because in the other thread I wrote about Calgar's death, everyone said it would be Agemann.
I thought at first it would be Tigurius, but now I think Sicarus. Thank you all for answering.

The blurb about Strike Force Ultra in the 7th edition book basically states that Agemman is the assumed successor to Marneus, that's why. He's the 1st company Captain. Tigurius can't be Chapter Master because he's Chief Librarian. Sicarius is an option, and is probably the only likely candidate besides Agemman, so it would come down to if A) Agemman wants the job and Sicarius doesn't, B) Agemman doesn't want the job and Sicarius does, or C) Some kind of vote/duel between the two of them to determine the successor.

I would say Agemann. But Tigirius ins't that far of an option, considering the Blood Ravens have a tradition of Chief Librarian being the Chapter Master (except Gabriel Angelos). I have no idea why Telion is in there but not Uriel. The guy is a Scout Captain. How can a Chapter be led by a Scout?

Not even captain, Talion is a sergeant. From a pure years served POV though, he is one of the senior members of the chapter. I agree that he’s not in the running, but his voice is probably one that will be listened to if there is a council to decide (rather then just promoting the captain of the 1st)

far as I can tell it's just the one guy.
from what I can tell reading between the lines, the TRADTIONAL choice will be the captain of the first, but given Cato Sacirus is being named as a possiability my guess is that it's not AUTOMATICLY the captain of the first
for the OP, dixd you really need to start a SECOND thread about this? seems to me you're actually looking for validation that Tigurus could become the sucessor to Calgar. and I suppose it's possiable, but it'd likely require a near decapitation of the chapter.

Cassius is actually eligible. He used to be a Captain on the Battle of Macragge. He has seniority, he has the knowledge but he went the path of the Chaplain and he is better suited as an advisor. And I remember reading that Agemann wasn't Calgar's favorite. He was too clinical while Calgar and Sicarius were more alike in they took the codex more loosely. Calgar would likely name Sicarius as the next Chapter Master given the chance with Agemann keeping his role as the level headed 1st Captain to balance out power still.
I would like it to be Cassius, but he is too reckless nowadays.

Are you sure? Cassius was a low grade Chaplain when Tigurius was being inducted into the Librarium, WotDM Tigurius has a little story about Tigurius doing some sort of test set by a young Chaplain Cassius.

I don't see how it couldn't be Agemann. Calgar would want someone politically astute and level headed. If Calgar got offed, Codex Astartes would elevate the first Captain, Tiggy would support it. You have to remember that the UM CM not only runs a small interstellar empire buts also leads the UM Senate which has varying levels of control over 500 worlds. Cato couldn't handle the responsibility nor do I think he'd want to.

Can't remember where I read it (besides it was a Black Library novel) but basically Agemann should become CM by tradition, but Cato is more preferred for the role (amongst the other Captains and apparently Calgar himself). Because of this there's a bit of rivalry between the two and Agemann doesn't like Cato as much as he would otherwise.

I'm somewhere like 90% sure but I can't for the life of me find the old codex. It was in the Battle of Macragge set, or in the White Dwarf at the time. But before the Battle, he was Captain Cassius, referred to in fluff only, and afterwards he was Chaplain Cassius. Also remember, he is significantly older than Calgar himself. Outside of Dreadnoughts, I think only Dante is older. I can't seem to find any sources though so I'm just trusting my memory of that. Not the best thing to be trusting if I'm honest.
