Honestly if you're going to sink points into a farsight bomb go all out. You need shadowsun and a buff suit in there at least.

Right... oversight on my part. Buff suit for sure....
What does Shadowsun really get you other than 3d6 thrust move if she's your warlord for the FarSun bomb? My reading is that Stealth and Shrouded only apply to her. Infiltrate adds something, but with the non scatter Farsight if HE is your warlord seems to me that she's kind of a point sink. Again, I'm pretty inexperienced. Above list will be edited.

Any other thoughts?

Nope, Stealth and Shrouded confer to the unit as long as you have at least one model with it, so Shadowsun brings a 4+ cover save(plus whatever terrain you may be in) plus two BS5 fusion blasters(one of which can shoot at a different target) and, if you take the command link drone too, re-rolling 1s to hit in the shooting phase(although if you have a buffsuit, that's not any help so don't bother).

In summary, she is a solid boost in survivability to the Farsightbomb and some nice firepower for just a bit more than a tactical squad. She's well worth it.

For your tac squad, might as well make that flamer a heavy flamer, same points cost.

SM cannot take heavy flamers on tactical squads.

Also why take Vulkan? His special rule doesn't work unless he is the warlord.

I make bad decisions and think they are good.

Of course the farsight bomb would be neutered.

Vulkan does have to be warlord to master craft Melta variants.

Yes thats what i thought.

Still undecided on adding shadow sun. I would sacrifice 2 broadsides to make it happen. Seems like they would add more to the list than she would. Subquestion: would you run Broadsides in 3 groups of 1. Or 1 group of 3?

1 group of 3 other wise thats 3 easy kill points in Purge the Alien/ Big guns.

I load my farsight bomb out like this:

1x Commander with cyclic ion blaster, plasma rifle, iridium armour, drone controller (for BS5 drones - highly valuable for this unit), vectored retro-thrusters for hit&run, 2 gun drones.

1x Farsight

3x bodyguards with 2 fusion blasters each, all target locks, all with 2 gun drones

3x bodyguards with 2 plasma rifles each, all target locks, all with 2 gun drones

1x bodyguard "buffsuit" with puretide chip, C&C node, MSS, 2 gun drones.

This particular configuration of the bomb is 787 points, but you can play around with how many target locks you want etc. The reason I use a buffsuit rather than a buffmander is because I prefer using my commander's BS5 for shooting.

This configuration means you can fire your commander, Farsight and drones at one target, but fire everything else at separate targets and eliminate many threats at once, whilst deterring and combat retaliation with all that overwatch. 16 drones (32 twin-linked shots), 8 plasma rifles (including Farsight and the commander), and 6 fusion blaster shots as well as those from the cyclic ion blaster is a very hard-hitting unit. Plus you always get first shot as you'll be deep striking perfectly (due to Farsight's warlord trait)

Like someone mentioned, if you're using a bomb then go all out. This could be a very powerful combination with drop-pod marines and air support
