Hi everyone,

My name's Matt and I've been painting WHFB HE collectively for about 5 years with about a 10 year break between the first 3 years and the most recent 2. Never had a chance to actually play the game due to not knowing any other players initially. Started during the 5th/6th edition of the game. Collected some blister packs, some small units, a dragon, Teclis, and basically any figures that struck me as interesting to paint. Also dabbled with a unit of Chaos Halberders and some Space Marines as well as basic terrain. By my third year of painting and not knowing anyone to play with (and going into high school), I boxed things up.

After 10 years and an art degree, I met a coworker that fell into a very similar history with the game (painting, not playing) and was inspired to start building my HE army again, but this time, for playing. Spent a lot of time painting in the beginning while everyone else was playing and getting into the rules of the game. Finally, I put down the brush because I really wanted to play and had my first 1000pt battle. Went well, learned a lot and most importantly, had a lot of fun.

I've played less than 10 games, mostly traditional (1500-2000pts) losing most of the time. My lists have really just been trying things out and taking the figures that I have (figures from the IOB starter set, half-built battalion, etc) as well as proxying for other units that I have yet to purchase. For my last match, I went up against WE (2000pts) and combined ideas from several lists posted here on DD. Basically ended in a tie (~1400 HE to ~1300 WE after 4 turns) but that's been one of my better results.

I'm here to get advice on better lists and play strategies for HE armies and to offer paint/tool/assembly knowledge that I've aquired over the years Feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to point you in the right direction!

Thanks. It's been an up and down road just trying things out as well as having little time at home for the hobby (2 kids under 3y/o) but I'm looking forward to being more active on DD, discussing lists and such.

Great avatar, btw!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
