Edit: IT'S OKAY GUYS I WON

So I have this guy at my store who runs Eldar and he just seems to trump every person he plays, I've never seen him loose a game. I've played him 5 times, each time I was utterly wrecked.

My main army is Necrons, but I also play Orks, Astra Militarum and Grey knights.

I don't know Eldar that well, but basically what he usually runs are:

10x wraithguard all with flamer weapons
10x wraithblades
2x wraithknights
4x wave serpents
5x warp spiders
10xshining spears
A hell of a lot of jet bikes that are completely decked out, that include his autarch and a bunch of warlocks
There is more but I can't remember exactly...

Last time we played he had something like 35 warp charges and it felt like half his army was invisible, while my army was doomed

What can I do to beat this stuff?! It seems like I'm completely outgunned and outmaneuvered every single game and I can't think of a way to beat it for the life of me!
Advice for any of those armies would be appreciated, but Necrons preferred.

**EDIT**
The game sizes are 3,000 and 1,850 points

Whats the size of the game firstly, also wondering what you brought against this as necrons, because I also have struggled with invis armies as Necrons, and there's nothing really we can do, except pray to the Tesla gods.

Yeah most of our games are 3000 points. We do the occasional 1850 for comp prep though.

I've bought 3 different lists against him as Necrons. Only list I haven't used is the all flyer list, but I don't really enjoy using that outside of cheese comps.

To beat the cheese, you must bring the cheese.

Is there really nothing else Necrons can do to win other than flyer spam? haha

MSU but it's harder and requires tactix. Well, at least more than you'd need with flyer spam. You still need to stay on board and controle points somehow.
Wraiths and scarabs using blos to deny area. Something to tie the council down - will be hard to do but don't forget - they're an almost 1k pt unit.
Sniper guyz to hunt down knights.
Barges to force serpents jink.

Anywayz, he's stock on overpowered stuff. Eldar are the epidome of 6-th power creep - what else are you expecting from a 'competitive' player.

With the new necron codex, multiple units of T5 3++ rending wraiths is your new stock in cheese. Add flyers and troops for scoring.

I play:
40K: Daemons, Tau
AoS: Blades of Khorne, Disciples of Tzeentch
Warmachine: Convergence of Cyriss
Infinity: Haqqislam, Tohaa
Malifaux: Bayou
Star Wars Legion: Republic & Separatists
MESBG: Far Harad, Misty Mountains

I got my hands on tactics which revealed how to win vs eldar. Next thing i remember is i was KOed by 2 tall humanoids speaking gibberish and info was nowhere to be found .... Jokes aside, just spam as many of the new wraiths(I5 S6 rending attacks with 4+ RP along with 2 wounds and 3++) It should make mulch of the wraithguard/blades and spears if you can catch them.... Dunno how new gauss works, so i can't help you on the matter of WS's but you should beat wraithknights with(isn't it obvious lol) with whatever hi-Strength, low AP shooting... Also, deathmarks

AFTER A THOUSAND EXAMS ONE ONLY SEES FAILURE!

Well done!

I'm late to the party here but as an Eldar player having keenly watched the new Necron rules I'd say one word. Gauss.

There are high toughness, low model count things everywhere in his warhost. Enough gauss weaponry will be stripping vehicle HPs and wounds off everywhere.

Priority is to smash those wave serpents and wraithknights. Far easier said than done but again, gauss. One thing Eldar always expect is to be able to outmanoeuvre you. If you start deep striking things and zipping fast units around that will freak them out.

Gauss is exactly how I did it. Immortals, Triarch stalkers, deathmarks and heavy destroyers did some work on those wraithknights.

The new and improved resurrection protocols means I can ignore half the shots in his army without taking many casualties, while being able to target the priority stuff at the same time.

Listen, we all have trouble beating the Eldar menace. The best way I deal with them is alpha strikes. However, you can't do that as well as I can. Do not fear! Necrons have something marines don't. AV 13 spam, and durable fast T5 bodies. You have fast bike choices, wraiths, and an amazing amount of ObSec bodies that can wound/glance ANYTHING.

Just bring as many wraiths as you can, Ghost Arks, Flyers, and warrior blobs.

A friend of mine just spanked me and my Podding CenturionStar list with wraiths and a Warrior blob with some hard hitting HQs in it.

The best thing Necrons have vs Eldar? Tomb blades with gauss and nebulaescopes. 10 blades average one dead serpent a turn in rapid-fire range. They are also awesome versus most eldar infantry, although not so much against wraith constructs. That's where you bring your own wraiths.

here its simple stop playing against him; i have given up trying to ever wrap my head around fighting eldar and as a result would sooner forfeit a tournament or league match than play them. and i will continue to do so until they have a serious codex revision.

edit: saw that you beat him, im happy for you really i am.

you don't describe how he uses the list (or even what goes in what transport, i.e. you say 4 wave serpents but the only things that can take wave serpents in that list are the wraithguard/blades but you say they are in a squads of 10 so they can't be all in 4 wave serpents - also you lack any troops too so I don't know that I can break apart what is going on in these games because what you have sent doesn't add up) so I can't help you.

BUT to be honest my first look at this (as an Eldar player myself) is that it is not cheese at all. He has wraithblades, and shining spears, and (what sounds like) a warlock council - these are incredibly expensive points wise for what they do.

This list is highly vulnerable to fliers and barrage weapons. It also cannot handle AV14 well if you kill the wraithknights. Wraitknights go down to poison weapons. They do not have unlimited wounds so focus them one at a time.

I play him with different lists, sometimes he runs super cheese (I think it was 35 warp charges), but he's used the shining spears against me once and they weren't all that strong.

I'm not an Eldar player so I know little about the details of what he brings.

I've beaten him now anyway so this thread is now irrelevant
