Which do you think is better and why?

Plague Hulk

150 points has 2 sources of ranged weapons instead of the Soul Grinders 1, both weapons are AP3 and the Rot Cannon has Rending.

I like Soul Grinders, dont get me wrong, but mine are always proxied as Plague Hulks now simply because they perform better.

I think a massive advantage of the plague hulk is that CSM can take it without allying deamons in. Unlike the soul grinder.

Soul Grinder = Defiler + 1. Because Daemons
Plague Hulk = Soul Grinder + 1. Because Forgeworld.

Defiler is pretty pants tbf though.

I guess, but the skyfire option on the SG is nice.

Except that the SG is BS 3 and god awful on relying on its str 7 gun to shoot down AV12 anything.

Plague hulk is better than a Nurgle grinder, but I would consider it an equal to a slaanesh grinder with or without the torrent flamer.

As to the OP's question, "which is better" totally depends on what you need them to do.

PH is better at ranged damage, slaanesh grinders are better at controlling board area and applying pressure.

This is misleading. It has 2 ranged weapons but 1 of them is ordnance, and the other is a template, meaning that it can only ever fire 1 weapon per turn.

This. Plus, IIRC, the Plague Hulk is Slow and Purposeful, so no Overwatch, running, or Sweeping Advance.

The real comparison should be Plague Hulk to nurgle grinder.

The nurgle grinder is S8 ordinance, while the plague hulk is S6 rending. So both have strengths. The nurgle grinder has skyfire, but the plague hulk can fire its gun AND its blast on the same turn.

Both are terrible for assaulting, which is where the slaanesh torrent grinder steps in. This is a top tier melee walker.

Generally I find myself using a pair of slaanesh grinders, and either a hulk or nurgle grinder pending on mood.

But it can't since its large blast is also ordnance
