Here is the full comment in the thread, which (if the link doesn't work) is page 13 of the 'Would you advise a beginner to start any GW game' thread.

The specific quote is this:

In essence what I´m saying is:

-GW´s sales will have increased after the last financial reports due to the vast amount of new product, some of them ( especially the Tyranid drop pod ) having been reported selling really well. This is true.
-Warhammer 40,000 is still an enjoyable game, with the largest playerbase in it´s field. This matter is subjective, and can therefore be true and false.
-Games Workshop is the largest, most successfull wargaming company in existence. This is true.

Emphasis mine, to show the specific line in question.

Related to the OP, my regular "gaming club" swore up and down that after the last codex was released in hard-back, we are locking down -- no more codex upgrades.

I'm very interested to see how long this conviction sticks whenever the first pre-7th codex gets an update.

I'm pretty sure the "3 horsemen, their steeds and various hangers on of GWpocalypse" have only talked about the decline and then followed up with
a) hope it's quick and someone good grabs the IP
b) if it's a long drawn out decline, nobody will touch the IP with a pointy stuck

But hey why let that get in the way of saying what boils down to "I don't like your opinion and think you shouldn't be able to say it"

Have never stated they aren't in a slow decline. You can read it from the reports plain and simple. I am now interested why you would say I am backpedaling from something I have never said?

Oh wait, it's that habit of yours I just talked about, presented right now, right here, as a perfect example. Thank you.

I linked the specific claim.

Its abundantly clear what you meant, and in fact, was clarified during that thread. There is no room for interpretation.

Really at this point, your best bet is to admit your claim was wrong.

Adjust the numbers for inflation and track them back to 2004 and you get a different picture. Relative to 2004, inflation adjusted gross revenue is down 50%. Adjust that 2007 low number for 2014 inflation rates, and it's actually slightly higher than the 2014 revenue.

Well, 2004 was still a "LoTR-year". If revenue is "only" down 50% it'd be less than I thought. GW certainly is at best 1/4 the company it was back than staff-wise, etc..
Most of that staff was in stores, that's a cost cutting measure, not a revenue related issue really. 2004 was on the tail end of the LotR train, but that alone should not explain the drop.

So excluding those, seems like 2014 was a slightly-poorer-than-2007 year, while 2012 and 2013 were slightly-better-than-2008 year, I still see only cyclicality at best. Nothing that inherently says .. um ... 2016 and 2017 couldn't be again slightly better than 2007 at the current business model (not saying it wouldn't be nice if they did switch things up though)

The bigger thing to keep in mind is that revenue during this time period is largely stagnant, while prices have risen dramatically. In 2007 Codex books were $20, some were $22 by the end of the year. In 2014 they were $50. In 2007 Land Raiders were $55, in 2014 they were $75. Guardsmen were $35 for 20 in 2007, in 2014 they were $30 for 10. Stagnant revenue coupled with increased prices means they're moving less product. This has unfortunate implications.

You're trying to say their sales increased but that doesn't mean they've grown.

You're saying this about a company whose raison d'être is to sell stuff. There is no way that their sales can increase and they can't have grown, well, unless they got a massive licensing deal I guess.

But that hasn't happened.

It is impossible for a company that sells things to not grow if it sells more things.

Your whole preposition is ludicrous.

MY angry PM? To YOU?

Priceless.

Only one of us has been sending angry PMs to the other, and it wasn't me, in fact, you do it so often to so many people it's kinda getting to be your "thing."

Please don't interpret replies to your PMs politely asking you to feth off and bother someone else as "angry." Frankly, I don't really remember much about em, and coupled with you dredging up stuff I posted from months ago that I also barely remembered, I'm starting to feel that you're far more in to me than I am into you.

No I ran a company before ill health forced me to wrap it up. It was dissolved a little over two years ago.

I think you'll find that just because you don't find something funny doesn't mean it isn't.

But really, the way you're (apparently) able to recall things I've said months ago is really suggesting you need to unclench and take a breath, this is a discussion forum about toy soldiers - you seem to be taking it waaay too much to heart.

Why don't you let it go ?

You looked somewhat smart in your first posts (maybe), now he's dragged you down to his level and proceeding to beat you with experience (I don't know, I've got him on ignore, but he sure is dragging you down).

He has mentioned his C-level bs before when commenting on a financial report so simple a child could read it (but not him) so it's quite obvious he's just trying to get credibility by any slowed means possible.

I just have a really good memory.

This isn't the first time someone starts the discussion seriously but tries to steer it into a flippant one when a certain thing happens during the "discussion." Pointing it out is useless however; it will be denied because internet. I don't take the hobby in general too seriously, I wouldn't be modeling mentally ill Obliterators or making Rhinos that play disco music if I did. With some individuals it just doesn't pay off to be casual/flippant/unserious, whether they realize it or not.

Sad to hear you have such a limiting health issue.

Morgoth, I hold a first in Business And Communication from Southampton University. I tend not to explicitly mention what my qualifications are as it, to me, feels like showing off, but I will at least mention I hold qualifications when people like you somehow feel obliged to try and undermine my opinion not by countering it with facts and arguments of their own, but merely by casting aspersions.

Your analysis was wrong, I've explained why, yet you still continue to insist it's me - largely by telling me stuff I already understand that either confirms what I was saying or has no bearing on the matter being discussed.

I guess we can be charitable and put it down to a communication rather than an intellectual failure on your part huh? But seriously, if you learned the difference between net and gross, you'd maybe get what I was saying.

I pinpointed before what my claim was, and I wasn't wrong, as it became reality. I claimed nothing else besides it. I feel some individuals didn't even know exactly what they were argumenting against, as they obviously got their financial terms mixed up. Azreal seemingly understood it perfectly for example.

-GW´s sales will have increased after the last financial reports due to the vast amount of new product, some of them ( especially the Tyranid drop pod ) having been reported selling really well. This is true.

Except we have the financial report which showed a decrease in revenue.

Unless you're seriously claiming their sales went up but revenue went down.
