That's an idea. But wouldn't so many bustaz in a wagon be a massive fire magnet? I would prefer min sized bustaz in Trukks, but that's just me with my Marine mentality.
Also, MANz in Trukks? Wouldn't they have to take pinning test when the Trukk inevitably dies and then die miserably?

Sure, but don't forget you've got mob rule and bosspoles. MANz missile has proved to be effective not once. And MANz are 2+ nobz with power klaws/buzzsaws. even a min unit of 3 is gona chop whatever stuff they touch to death. Just don't touch massed ap2 or rending stuff

Nice. That's some food for thought for the long term.
As for the short term, I think I will upgrade da boyz to ard boyz, add rokkits and rokkit mechs to them. To fill up the last points to 1250 I think I will either get Mek Gunz or a Wagon with content that is to be decided shortly.

By the way, I am having a slight concern. With all that rokkit spam, how will I approach hordes or invisible infantry? I am lacking any real output except with the Warbikes.

I play speed freaks and i have a nob bikerz. Even though they are expensive sticking a painboy allows them all to take cyborg bodies which is a nice touch to the 4+ cover save. It also gives them all feel no pain which is really useful. They are really expensive but it takes a lot to destroy them. 2 wounds, 4+ armour save (if you wanna take it, not really necessary), 4+ cover save, 5+ invulnerable (cyborg bodies) and feel no pain. If you want you could also get a pain boss (forge world) which lets a unit of boyz have feel no pain and cyborg bodies. Put this into a battlewagon. I wouldn't bother with 'ard boyz for this unit but this makes a squadron of boyz from cannon fodder to unstoppable machines. If you want you could try get some storm boyz which can move very far. 12 inches from deployment, 12 inches movement and then run. They can move (if lucky) 18 inches in one turn. They are amazing for later in the game. Stick them in cover early and then later on use them to clean up units. I have a unit of tankbustas but i rarely use them cuz they are a unit that gets targeted very early on. For fun games i use small squadrons of warbuggies with rokkit launches. Its funny seeing your opponents face when you glance its expensive shiney new land raider to death. Deff koptas are a good choice for anti-tank.

Thanks

Some very good tips I've seen in this thread so far.

As for delivery-systems for the boyz, there's more then the Trukks and Wagons. Why not try out a Looted wagon for once? They are nice opportunities for some conversion work and work really well IMHO.
You can fit it out with a lot of shootas/rokkits or a Killkannon for even more dakka.

I mostly run my boyz 'bare' and present my opponents with loads of targets (bikes/stromboyz/etc.), which keeps a good deal of them alive. A nice tactic is to run your bike in front of your trukks to give them a coversave.

I have to stop you right there. Cyborg bodies do NOT give you an invulnerable save anymore (they did in the old codex). THey give you a 6+ FnP. However this is overtaken by taking a painboy who gives everyone a 5+ FnP.

That's the key. as koooaei said earlier, regular bikers are FAR more points efficient. Nob Bikers WERE good, but not anymore. Consider that you can get 15 warbikers inc Nob + BP + PK for LESS POINTS THAN the price of 8 nobs on bikes (before they're able to take ANY further upgrades), and each will give you 16 wounds.

CONS:
-- As Nob Bikers have no easy access to fearless, they MUST pick their fights really carefully. Which isn't good.

-- They are have no invulnerable save IN combat. So they must be REALLY careful about who they fight.

-- The only invulnerable save they get, is against ranged attacks, and you've gotta take a Big Mek on a Bike + KFF (which is expensive, way too expensive).

-- Without the invulnerable save, they'll die to instant death really quickly. People will go for these guys as you've dedicated a huge portion of your points into them.

-- With the Forgeworld Biker Boss (Zhagstrukk?) regular bikers can be taken as troops and the unit Zhagstrukk joins get scout and skilled rider. Nob Bikers don't get this benefit.

-- Consider the other options in the Elites setion:
-- -- 3 Meganobz in a trukk almost always earn their points back in a game (and then some). They're cheap and cause an instant threat.
-- -- Tankbusters ARE awesome right now. If they net the first kill, that's an extra VP. 2x 7 in a Trukk + 3 bomb squigs fits easily into most lists. 15 in a battlewagon is awesome fun and survives well. Again, these will typically earn their points back (as are really cheap).

-- 5 Deffkoptas + Painboy Biker + (optionally) Big Mek + KFF is alot more useful. These guys also have scout and are fantastic at nabbing objectives. They cause havoc via Rokkits. Can also benifit other units in Trukks or Battlewagons going flat out (via moving the KFF into range).

For fast attack:
-- 15 Warbikers inc Nob + PK + BP.
-- Painboy Biker with the above.
-- Zhagstrukk
-- Warboss Biker + PK + BP
-- MSU of Deffkoptas for grabbing objectives (or 5 for a wound spunge).
-- Tankbusters in Trukks/ battlewagons.
-- Meganobs in Trukks.
-- Ard Boys in Trukks
-- Dakkajets or Warbuggies

I'd choose all of them before going near Nob Bikers these days.

30 Orks by Foot.
17-20 in a Battlewagon.
12 in a Trukk.

I want offical rules for the Super-Ork that the Mad Dok is working on...

Sounds very much like you're using the previous codex, not the new one?

Ork Boy Hangin' off a Trukk

What is everybody's opinion on using stormboyz along with a speed freek trukk list?

I know that the fast attack slot is already pretty crowded with bikers and deffkoptas, but if you take 2 CADs, you have 6 slots. And stormboyz are cheap as hell now.

btw, what percentage of your trukk boyz should have `eavy armor? I was toying with the idea of a list with 4 squads of trukk boyz (sluggas) all with eavy armor.

oh and which armies do you think give speed freeks the most trouble?

Check out Zhadsnark. He's a forge world HQ biker that you can use to make warbikes troops (and thus obsec) and the unit he goes with gets 2+ jink if you turbo boost. Great way to run speed freaks competitively. Will probably be my fifth army when I finish the first four haha.
