We've been away from the world of Orks for a bit, are getting behind, and need some help.

We have a fun but not especially competitive Ork army, which we've hardly used since the new codex and 7th edition. WE have 60 shoota boys, three battlewagons, one Stompa, and are now augmenting the army with four Meganobz , armored Big Mek and six killakans (the latter for fluffier games). WE also have six Nbz bikers, which we will perhaps use as regular bikers, plus a Biker boss. We also acquired a Morkanaught cheap, tho' not certain we'll use it as it's so damn ugly.

Basic tactic will be to speed on with the wagons(and perhaps bikers) while the walkers clank their way up the field. We definitely want to run one armoured big mek with KFF/tellyport blasta (magnetised), purely because he looks cool

so, quick question:
1: best loadout for the four meganobz, and armoured big Mek? we're thinking two twinlinked shoots and one skorcha, and all PK
and
2: best loadout for the six killa kans?

Thanks in advance. This force is more aimed at rule of cool, but we want to avoid ineffcient loadouts if possible. We magnetised all our nids, but simply cant face doing that again! (although I'd consider magnetising the big mek, and a max of one meganob!

Meganobz you want in combat asap. They won't do much shooting and they can't Overwatch. Maybe stick a single Skorcha in there, but I wouldn't go further.
Killsaws are a good upgrade for them, and extra attack with Armourbane, but again I wouldn't go for more than one a unit.

Megamek: Yep, Tellyport Blasta looks awesome, easily one of my favourite models. Basically a better mobile KMK (but shorter ranged). If you go this route, might as well swap the Meks KMB for a Killsaw (you'll never fire the KMB when you have a Tellyport!) and that'll give you an extra attack as it's paired with his Powerklaw.

KFF Megamek isn't as cool, but probably more practical. It helps shield those Meganobz from AP2-1 attacks before they get into combat. Will also shield their Transport, which is a plus.

If you're taking 1 Megamek, then it will probably be the KFF one.

I'm currently building up my Meganobz to take Ghazghkull's Bullyboyz, with the Blitz Brigade to transport them all, and Modroks Bossboys.
So one units of Meganobz will have a KFF Mek, the other a Tellyport Blasta Mek, and the third a MegaBoss

On the Megamek a KFF is better as it gives you protection from AP2 shots, so you will have a Terminator-like unit. The Tellyporta would be cool if it didn't scatter, besides it offers no benefit for the army. The Meganobs don't need any shooting upgrades, just give one of the a pair of Killsaws and you're ready to go.

A Trukk with a Reinforced Ram and Rokkit Launcha is a good purchase for Mega Armoured Nobz, gotta love a good ol MANz missile

I've yet to see Killa Kans used effectively

for me, 3 meganobz all with kombi skorchas and one with a boss pole in a truck with a ram. fast, cheap (ish) and provides a HUGE threat, and can take on hourdes with flamers and chop up basically anything you need dead

as for kanz, i wouldn't give them riggers or armor, and just give them all either rokkits or grot zookas (preferably the grot zookas assuming you already have things to deal with armor at range)

I run one to two mobs of 3 MANZ with boss nob having killsaws and boss pole. ATM I regret gluing all shootas as TL shootas, would hace liked a kombi-skorcha in each MANZ mob.

Both mobs have their limo wagon. AV14 gets there in style.

Also warboss is used to cruise around in one of the mobs.

I've got some unpainted killa kanz, tho I haven't tried them yet.

With love from Denmark

Fab. Thanks for the responses; yes a trukk would be cool, but we are way behind on painting so we'll stick with the three Battlewagons for the time being.

So a consensus for 5 Nobz might be

Armored Big Mek with KFF
3 x Big shoota and power klaw (one with Magnetized kombiscorcher)
1 with 2 Kill Klaws (Magnetised)

I've just remembered we have a nearly-finished GHazghull we can run as a mega-armored Boss or simply as another Meganob, so we can run a unit of 6.

Kans we will equip with klaws and rokkits. Maybe magnetize the grotzookas depending on how easy it looks.

Grendel, I'm loving the sound of that mob, do post pix!

There's generally a few ways to run MANz.

- MANz missile - the most widespread one. You take 3 in a ram truck. Cheap and effective. Can upgrade some of them to have saws. Usually just 1. Boss Nob takes a Bosspole.

- Bully Boyz - that's a formation, you take 3 squads of 5. In this case, you take 1-2 killsaws. The formation makes them fearless and ups ws to 5. I'd probably provide them with wagons in this case. Well, at least part of them. 5 fearless ws5 manz are much more of a threat in the enemy's eyes, so expect lightly armored trucks to go down very fast.

- Can also run 5 plain manz without formation.

- Might go insane and get 9 + indeps like KFF mek and Painboss and drop them in the midfield with an escape hatch. The opponent is gona need a new pair of clean pants when he realises what's just happened.

Bad photo I know, it's a long way to being finished, but two Big Meks and a Warboss are there. Still stipping paint from some eBay buys.

The biggest problem I have had with MANz is their Leadership, so I always run them with the Mad Dok.

Battlewagons all the way for transports for your MANz and Shoota Boyz. Slap a Painboy with an extra Bosspole in the BW with the Boyz and they will survive quite a bit before taking Morale tests.

I also use a KFF Bike Mek with a Warbiker Mob to help keep the BWs alive and strike as a counterattack unit.

I don't write the rules. My ego just lives and dies by them one model at a time.

Thanks for the assistance. We've gone all rockets on the Kanz, but they're magnetised (altho they're cheapskates about giving you enough rockets, it gave us the excuse to get a Deff Dread mob. )

We've done most of our Manz with shoota and power claw, but am in process of magnetising the last couple, one with Kombi Skorcha, one with Kill Saws.

Now this lot is ready, we're going to experiment with a walkers list, complete with Stompa. Should be priming the first 15 Spanna boyz tomorrow...

I actually had some luck with a unit of Kanz. I was using them just for fun because I have 3 unpainted ones and just wanted to see what they could do. I gave all 3 the Grotzookas and stuck them out of LOS in deployment. The opponent didnt seem to pay much attention to them as I rushed my battlewagons and trucks forward.

By the time the Kanz ambled in there was a unit of marines who had been blown out of their rhino standing exposed. 3 grotzookas destroyed the whole 10-man squad. Although I was lucky with my scatter dice.

I played a second game against the same player with the them and this time they attracted a lot more firepower. Which was, in a way a blessing because other stuff wasn't getting destroyed. So I think I had a good experience with them, but it was definitely situational.
