I have one of these old, derpy-looking Baneblades. It's smaller than a regular Baneblade, and much sillier-looking (IMO).

What should I do with it, do you all think?

Personally, I would keep it. Armorcast models sure aren't common to find these days, and many people would find it really cool to see one/play against one. Maybe paint it up to fit one of your armies (if it isn't already), and use it as a regular Baneblade.

But if you're not keen on keeping it, then I'm sure you could sell it on eBay for a decent amount of money. It's your only other real option, really.

I'd keep it as a a special play piece since they're so rare. But I'm kind of into older stuff like that.

Use it as an ork looted wagon?

Do a chop job and extend it?

Home brew some rules for it?

Treat it as a tank commander squadron with a leman russ battle and a leman russ demolisher, but all the hull points/weapons rolled into one tank?

Call it the Cooper mark Baneblade?

Then play it

The derpy look one gets used to. To be honest I always think that old models like that give armies their character. Everyone can go out and buy a shiny new army, but armies collected over the years with various editions of models have a certain character. Personally, I like that there's a story behind an army rather than just new models.

So whats the difference of a story between "i bought this a decade ago" or "i bought this half a year ago"... I find it's look derpy and its is not very detailed. Therefore, rather then forcing myself to like it and play with it, I would sell it to those that actually like it and buy a new baneblade instead (or somethhing else), because the new model it just looks better, more detailed and stuff.
It's not even worth converting it, because the base model could be built from simple styrene sheet in a couple of days, it's so primitive.

Silly? It looks epic! From my understanding, old, out of production models like this are seen as cool more than anything on the tabletop. It's like seeing old Rogue Trader models in somebody's army. Are they silly? Sure, but they're also extremely epic, since they're a part of the game's history.

Guh. Such mixed input. And since it's solid resin, shipping would be a pain. I will further think on it.

I am sure you could add / modify some bits to "modernize" it.
I like the lascannon turrets but the three heavy bolters poking out look odd.
Maybe this for the heavy bolters:

I would then suggest building up the back of the turret like some ammo hopper to bulk it up.
The naked woman on the side does add an element to it that may detract from what you want a bit...
The only other thing that may or may not detract is the monster rivets.
I am tempted to place 2 smaller ones between each set of the big ones.
While doing that, get some rivets on the side sponson: it looks odd without any while everywhere else has them.
Maybe extend the tip of the main cannon and throttle the end?
Spoiler:

Anyway, good bones on that tank, I would add stuff to it, not get rid of it.

I'd just sell/trade it unless you really love the old model. Bringing it up to modern levels of detail and fixing the awful proportions would be way more effort than it's worth and ruin the value if you want to sell it later. And it's not like the old Baneblade is hard to find if you change your mind and want to have one someday in the future.

IMO it depends on the model. Some OOP stuff is interesting (usually the niche-market kits that didn't sell well enough to keep in production) and worth putting on the table, some is just ugly garbage that went OOP for a reason. The old Baneblade is in the second category, IMO. It's a literal copy of the epic-scale Baneblade at 28mm, and things like the blocky lascannons (necessary to cast properly on the epic model) and lack of detail look ridiculous at 28mm. Compare it with the old FW model which takes the general design of the Baneblade and asks "what would this look like at 28mm scale" with much better results. It's a nice kit that only went OOP because the plastic Baneblade is so much cheaper to produce, and it makes an awesome centerpiece for an army.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

It's old, and OOP, but it's not super rare. it's also the basic model, which is older and less popular than the Baneblade/Shadowsword combination or the "super detailed" baneblade.

Painted basic Baneblades generally sell for around $50 on eBay, which is not nothing, but also not even enough to get you a modern plastic baneblade.

But much like any other model, if you don't like, it, don't use it. Saving a few bucks is nice, but being happy with the army you put on the table is even better.

Oh, you don't even know the definition of old silly looking models. Try looking up the 1st edition Tyranid Warriors, I've had opponents bring themselves to tears by laughing so much. The buckteeth sell it.

It may be doppy looking but something has to be said about it being OOP and a classic. I myself have several models that are OOP and since I play DA they fit in fine with the fluff of being the oldest of the Marine chapters. IF I had that Id use it. Yes I have a current bane model but I would still use this one. I also have a small ork group and in no way shape or form would I cut this classic baneblade up to ork it or make it look like a current model.

I wish I had some money cause if you really wish to sell it Id send you a current Baneblade model for your OOP one. Each side paying their shipping. Heck Id almost drive to get it.......

Feel free to do that with stuff that is still in production, but please, do not destroy irreplaceable items like this.
