So im in a league right now and things are going very well. I run death cents or drop pod marines and the league starts at 1000 points and is bumped up 250 points per month until 1750 or 2000 (haven decided yet). Anyways I was formulating lists for future games at 1250-1500 and I was wondering a couple of things. I know I could check out the codex of the blood Angels but I don't feel like going out and buying a $60 codex I may or may not use. The reason being is because I want to know what the flesh Tearers detachment consists of and the special weapon restrictions for assault squads. I saw this one battle report on YouTube and it had the assault squads with 2 meltas and a combi melta. Also with 6 FA choices and only one troop choice which I assumed was a unique detachment the BA had. I assume you can do this but I wanted to make sure just in case. Yes I could borrow it from a friend but nobody at my club plays BA, nor CSM for that matter. Just want some insight and thanks in advance!

I'm quite sure your local (closest? ) GW store will not mind quickly checking through the Codex.

Also it is not a Formation but a Detachment if you are selecting slots.

A formation is a detachment.

The Flesh Tearer force you mention is from the Baal campaign book (exterminatus i think). It requires 1 hq, 1 troop and 1 fa compulsory. Unfortunately you do need a ba codex to use it as there are no model rules in the book.

The asm squad with melta is accurate. A squad of 5 may take 2 special weapons and the serge may take a combi

Guardsman: "Sir, we appear to have brought knives to a gunfight"

BANG!!!

Commissar: "Anymore questions?"

A formation is a detachment.

A detachment (Subject of this thread) is not a Formation.
