Now if were just the mariachi band music, that would have been better.
Could have given a Good, Bad and the Ugly vibe.

THATS hip hop to you?

I think it still put out a pretty good 'Good, Bad, and the Ugly' western vibe. I doubt anything with trumpets could be considered hip hop just because the way the vocalist is singing.

Personally, as you can tell, I loved it.

I like how more people are talking about the song then the video itself. You're not paying for the soundtrack.

Not sure if I'll be playing this one, generally the only 40k games I've touched is the DoW series.

Crusader, Honor Guard of the Cardinal's Crimson.

The game itself can be great but Im not sure about its pure fps potential, it's not like there's going to be a lot of dodging or actual movement, at least if it's like it was with Space Hulk devs who were told by GW that terminators are slow period and you had to wait ages to finish a turn before a patch.

Still going to play even if it's bad, the only way to dodge it would be if trailer music made it into actual gameplay and they locked out the option to turn it off heh.

Well technicaly it's not hip hop because it's some hipster post postmodernism trash where you throw everything in no matter the outcome. It still has hiphopish vocals which imo ruin every positive effect it could have. The western vibe could alone be funny on some level yes but you could make a tons of better choices, nr 1 imo being the good old spine stretching horror tune mixed with adrenaline fueled organ epic or sth heh.

Ironically, the vocal styling being negatively commented on goes back in recorded times to at least 1100's, if not much earlier, so liking them to recent Hip-Hop is kind of narrow. In point of fact, the first two stanzas are more ackeen to cabaret torch light singing than to modern Hip-Hop, while the rhythmic chorus can be considered Hip-Hop if you have no musical background or historical knowledge. The martial musical accompaniment fit the rhythmic delivery. I can see why Kadebostany is winning awards for the music.

To stay on topic, the music matched the Grim Dark setting of the cinematic quite well, in my opinion, and was a surprising change from the now routine Gregorian chanting we have all come to associate with 40k. (Not that I don't enjoy a good Gregorian chant)

All that history doesnt change a lot when the vocals fire an instant connotation in your brain thanks to every cent from 50cent and the like who punish, sorry entertain us for decades now. Got to take that into account when choosing music for a gothic grimdark space fantasy game trailer but maybe not.

I find the 40K video games without exception poor. They're done by smaller studios and/or with small budgets instead of being A++ games intended as mega blockbusters.

I'd like a good one of course, but I don't exactly need it. There's plenty of cool sci-fi games to go around, and if you like the humans vs aliens theme the Alien: Isolation game is pretty incredible in every way. If you like zombies and other gribblies, Dying Light is great. I loved Dead Space 3 too but that's a bit older now. Just imagine you're a Space Marine or an Imperial Assassin or whatever while playing these games and you're set. Much better than any crappy game trying to make a few bucks with a recognisable name.

Space Marine was incredible imo, so was Dawn of War 2 though for me only with mod removing popcap, 30 carnifex assault ftw. Both A++ games btw.

I also am really immersed in Space Hulk Ascension lately. Sure it's a small game from small dev but they nailed the atmosphere in this imo, not to mention show a lot of devotion to the title. Now they're developing Jagged Alliance remake afaik so here's hoping for Chaos Gate 2 in the future heh.

But I agree about Alien Isolation, it is a best game in years, Dead Space as well especialy the 1st. Still waiting for Battlefield 40k, 40k Total War though even crap of duty clone could work with all the bombastic cutscenes and piles of bodies you left behind, would fit 40k more than Iraq for sure.
