There was an interesting discussion about farmer scythe (like in 15 century England) in the other thread, that the tool was never use in battle and it was a myth created by hollywood and fiction characters such as the Grim reaper.

I would like to hear more about other "weapons" that was also created by hollywood or stories.

NOTE: This is a weapon that is consider a "common" usage, not some guy who was caught off guard and used it or 1 in a million who actually use them.

Here are some tools that I've see in stories and movies. Obviously movies make them use these weapons because they want to show the careers of the user. These weapons are based on zero history, just hollywood fiction. In reality, these tools are freaking hard to use as a weapon and you might as well go get a kitchen knife or a wood chopping axe as a weapon.

Farmer - farmer scythe
Cook / baker - rolling pin, cast iron pan
Chinese special troops - flying guillotine
Chinese Kung fu masters - paper knife or paper weapons
Chinese Kung fu masters - Mosquitoes swaters
OK I have many more Chinese movies that used crazy weapons, but I don't want to list them... I think we get the idea from Kung fu masters.

Farmer scythe was the biggest myth buster. So many people actually felt for this one(not talking about war scythe or converting scythe).

Chainsaws as weapons is a major trope in zombie films that don't make much sense.

Despite your feelings on the matter the farmers scythe was converted to a weapon, I've got several scholarly works on weapons that show surviving examples.
German examples survive from around 1480, and English from around 1600.
I've personally seen them in the Royal Armouries in the UK.

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

..yes, this does seem somewhat similar to another recent thread.

But we'll see how it goes for now.

Please note this is not an excuse or permission to go over the same ground already covered previously.

Duel weilded pistols are pretty obvious. They were pretty made by hollywood, starting with westerns then moving on to action films.

I guess you missed that part about not counting converted scythe and war scythe. I'm trying to avoid that topic period!

Interesting, I'm not sure about this. Why do Cowboys where two pistol holster belts? Is this a myth or just a rare thing? I mean... I could see a gun slinger doing this.

Any Wild West expert here? I don't know about this one.

The frying pan and rolling pin wouldn't be used in a military sense, but it sure makes a handy improvised weapon in, say, a domestic homicide.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

When you're first response in a thread that had a tenuous hold on life to start includes insults, you can be guaranteed it's getting closed. Don't start any more weapons/myth threads since you can't seem to behave in them.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...
