Subject: A lore discussion: Khorne and Psykers

Possessed Khorne Marine Covered in Spikes

I had a question, but first I'll begin with a story, everyone doesn't know the terribly told tale of horribleness that is the start of the renegade warband known only as, "the blood disciples" to summarize a prophet was sitting a top a pillar of blood spouting D A R K- H E R E S Y of Khorne and some SPEZZ MARINZ went to go kill him, everyone that touched the blood became instantly devoted to Khorne I understand this is possibly one of the worst origin stories in all of 40k, but I wanted to capitalize on the prophet's (Known creativly as the "red prophet") interesting circumstance and turn him into a Pskyer of Khorne. Most of you have already typed in how much Khorne would detest this, but I will carry on with my idea, Khorne the god of bloodshed and other fun-loving things send his bloodletters out daily to give hugs and kisses to their friends in the Imperium. The thing is though how do those daemons get there? Through summoning of coarse! So my question is if Khorne hates all psykers, but needs them to summon daemons how does he summon daemons without them! I'm going to go out on a limb and say he would be ok with psykers entirely used for summoning like the red prophet in my new army will be what are your guys opinions?

Daemons can force their way into the real world with enough effort, especially if it's been prepped (like if the world has been desecrated enough, or enough blood is flowing to draw Khorne's attention). It's not a quick and easy thing but for daemons they have all the time in the universe and they'll get through eventually, all they need is the tiniest of cracks.

I have an interesting counter point for you. What if instead of being a Khorne Psyker, he was a Khorne Sorcerer? The key difference being a Sorcerer was not born with any power, but gained it through study or by being given the power by a daemon/relic.
So, what is instead of just being ''His Psyker Powers did it'' you could create some of your own fluff regarding 'Blood Magik''. A certain sacrifice using a certain ritual chanting certain words makes something happen because it drew the attention of something with real power.
Would that fit your fluff better?

Khorne daemons need not puny things like summoning! they charge into the mortal realm under their own strength!
In a slightly more serious note, undivided sorcerers at times would summon khornes, even followers of other gods might, if the situation calls for it. (especially followers of T, who are rather pragmatic)
And khorne does not hate all psykers, he just has no love for them. not quite the same.
And its probably because he does not UNDERSTAND psykers all that well. he is not the sharpest tool in the shed as one might say.

Actually it has more to do with Khorne being the God of Honorable Combat (as Chaos represents both positive and negative things). "Trickery" like psychic powers and magic aren't honorable, hence his disdain.

Khorne psykers definitely exist. Khorne just doesn't really like them. I like to look at it like this:
Khorne's relationship to psykers = Angron's feelings about psykers before and during the heresy
He doesn't like them, but understands their use.
Psykers are useful navigators, summoners, and communicators where normal physical techniques are not practical.

Just don't apply those abilities to combat because that's dishonorable and they will you up.

I assumed that a psyker running around smacking stuff with a Force weapon would be to Khorne's liking.

So, you thickly identify a piece of lore as poorly constructed, then want to go about constructing a Khorne psyker based off said lore? And you want it to come across as being constructed well...
And since when did anyone need psykers for summoning? There are literally limitless ways for daemons to push their way into real space.

Sadly, there aren't limitless ways on the table top :( EDIT: OOPS Mixing forums! This was a post relating to the fact that CSM can't field daemons without summoning, but it isn't related SORRY

Need? No one said they necessarily need to be summoned, but the way they go about describing it a summoning essentially forces daemons into the real world. Summoning acts as a sort of "on demand" army- provided of course the sacrifice is sufficient. I also imagine summoning makes things easier for the daemons. Sure they could force their way in, or they can be summoned. Just like you can walk 50 miles to Walmart* or you could drive. Both will get you there, but one is easier and more efficient than the other.

I thought this was a discussion about lore not gameplay mechanics? And even then, no psykers are required to use a Khorne Daemon army in the game, how they get there is up for you to decide... as in one of a limitless amount of ways... lorewise...
And thank you for using 'lore' and not 'fluff'. The term 'fluff' implies the lore was constructed around the game, when in fact it's the opposite.

He finds them weak and cowardly, but there's probably at least a few psykers that have managed to impress him slightly despite this.

I stand corrected. I was more referring to "no one" as "no one who writes anything for the background of the game" but I see how not making that clear is my fault.
To reiterate, no they don't need them. But I propose it's easier for both parties involved if proper rituals are done.
