Whenever it's allowed, strength D on ranged platforms seems to be a solid counter vs Necrons. Reanimation protocols doesn't work against it and it causes instant death in Wraiths (and other stuff), and every now and then doesn't allow invulnerable saves / cover saves either.
Necrons need some allies at the very least to succeed vs strength D, especially things like Revenants. It'll just destroy the Necron army on its own while jumping around the table to avoid most dangers.

So, while I maintain that the Decurion is beatable, overpowered and easily abused, but beatable, I feel like what happened in an apocalypse game today is a good example of the terror Canoptek Wraiths can unleash.
On one side of the table, 6k points of Grey Knights, Ultra Marines, and Blood Angels, on the other, Necrons with a Decurion and a formation giving the wraiths Reanimation Protocols.
A unit of 6 wraiths, through the power of T5 with 3++ and 4+ rerolling ones reanimation, not only survived until turn 6, but survived combat that throughout its course was joined by Marneus Calgar, Dante, and Kaldor Draigo, along with accompanying units. All told, the total point cost of the units that went into combat with them was 1.328, and only 470 points walked out. Dante, and Draigo with with two wounds missing. For those doing the math at home, they earned back their points 3.575 times over.

Ahem.
Wraiths cannot reroll ones on reanimation. That's just the Reclamation Legion (and only within 12" of the warlord). Automatically Appended Next Post: As an aside, I love the name "Reclamation Legion." Brilliant.
