What about colours guys? Obviously the armour components will be red to tie him in to the army but what colour should he be? I'm thinking something outrageous like bright blue and orange but I'm not sure tthat won't clash with the red.

You probably should go with something that contrasts really well with the red so it actually highlights the tech that has been added. It is boring I know, but maybe a grey/blue or light green/blue combo.

don't go green - he will look like a Christmas decoration! I would be going an earthy tone - browns/greys

I quite like the idea of blue, so maybe blue with grey, brown belly.

Excellent.

(So happy you didn't have the blue end abruptly at the edge of the back-gravel!)

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

Thanks man. Yes I know what you mean, I tried to reference from real creatures. It's hard to strike a balance between the kind of cartoony look of the back gravel (love the phrase BTW ) and a realistic creature. I was also conscious of the old exodite artwork. I wanted to reinforce the idea that he is a support unit for the guardians so not only does he have to carry their heavy weapon, he also has to carry their extra ammo! Even laden like this though, he is still able to tackle the difficult terrain of the forest with far greater ease than the traditional bulky anti-grav weapons platforms. Bounding over fallen trees and negotiating tight spots in the trees to get the support weapon where it needs to be.

It looks great. Blue and yellow has the potential too look a bit... Thousand Sons-y, and when you throw in the red you've got the three primary colours and an even finer line to walk! But your shade and shading choices work nicely between the one bright and two more subtle colours.

I still have some fondness for the old cold ones, chunky as they are compared to the sleek new Jes Goodwin ones; but it still annoys me that for years, every reptilian GW creature got the same old scale pattern that looked like chunks of rock rubbed into the skin!

That's part of what attracted me to kroot mercs years ago. Now I'm tempted to go dig up that box and blow the dust off.

Nice work on these. Those bases you did at the beginning are practically inspirational.

Thanks man. I hadn't thought about it to be honest my main concern was trying to find a different scheme for the skin and armour that wouldn't Make my eyes bleed. You're right though, it could have ended up looking like part of a different army all together!

I have a couple old ones and a couple new ones so had to make a choice. I thought as this is a beast of burden the chunkier look was far more fitting. If I'm going to use the newer ones they will be noble mounts rather than stubborn mules.

Thanks very much. I'll have to come up with lots of new ideas for plants!

The conversation is excellent, the paint job is even better. I think using an example from nature is a terrific idea and you have copied that lizard so well.

Look forward to seeing the whole squad together with their faithful Dinosaur pack mule.

Been a bit slow with progress recently but got to do some work on one of the farseer jetbikes this evening. So here it is. I'm gradually getting to grips with the airbrush!

Getting to grips with what? That's fantastic I think you are well aware by the looks of it which end of the airbrush to point at the model.

Have you done the Farseer conversion yet?

Not going to put him on a flying dinosaur?

I used the new plastic farseer when I built my jetseer. Are you going to try to sculpt rune armor onto him?

I'm having 2 farseers so considering putting the other one on a terradon. Kind of a combined force of exodites and craftworld. Yes, I will be giving him rune armour and more robes and stones etc
