Can I use the Siege assault vanguard for any game?

So I've recently discovered the siege assault vanguard and I think it's awesome and would like to make my imperial fists a siege assault army. Now can I use the Siege assault vanguard supplement with any game or does it have to be a siege game? Would you play against someone using it if they had it printed out next to their codex? Thanks

As long as you remember to include the Siege Objective from page 2 of the Update document, you should be fine - it's the balancing factor for the list.

What he said above. The objective marker really balances the list out. Otherwise it'd be a pretty strong list.

Oh so I cant just use the list while playing like kill points or regular games?

Yes, but even if you are playing Kill Points or Eternal War missions, you have to have the Siege Objective. Since it's not so much as a victory point objective as a 'You can't win if you don't hold this' objective. It's what balances the list out, as mentioned above.

Oh I get it now, thank you very much that's a cool feature. so as long as my opponents okay with it I can use the army and that objective thing

Correct, but I should point out that it doesn't require any special permission compared to any other army list GW has published. Your opponent has to be ok with it (after all, you probably aren't going to hold a gun to their head and force them to play), but they also have to be ok with you using a "normal" list from C:SM.
