I would like to have opinions on what commission painting services in the US suck and are awesome. I'd like to send some center piece stuff to get done because I don't think I'll have time to touch them for literally years... Any help and advice is welcome. They will be primarily Skaven and maybe a few Wood Elves. Thanks guys.

I'm biased, but I think my service is awesome.

For centrepiece stuff avoid Blue Table. Actually, just avoid them.
Dullspork's good.
Garden ninja's good.
Lots of people are good.

You might get more joy if you give some useful information like budget, timescale. Browse around the showcase threads. A good few reputable painters show work here,

Winterdyne - good points man....

So budget wise, I honestly don't know what things cost on average so it's hard for me to say "no" to a price at this point. So I guess another question would be, how much should I pay for something like the Screaming Bell?? It's big, lots of work. Good example right?

Timescale is not a factor necessarily, I'm not in a crunch on that front. Does this help?

I have to agree with Winterdyne here, it depends on what you want.
Some are good for fast tabletop grade painting and you really need to do a few searches and see what comes up.
Also looking for them around your area may help with shipping costs.
Yes, Dullspork is awesome, if I had cash to spare I would throw some models his way just so I can get angry with how good they are and be inspired to paint better.
In most cases however, just try to do it yourself, if just feels better.

IMO:

100 will get you your standard speed paint dry brush rush job from a sweatshop studio of your choosing.
A couple hundred bucks some good painters will start to be interested.
300 bucks you can demand something very good.
over 300 you could probably start telling them it needs to be display worthy.

You should check out the list of painter in the trade section of the site. Look at what they have painted and ask for estimates. It is a really a question of Quality and time to determine how much a studio will charge.

This is an excellent suggestion. There are plenty of people on Dakka that offer commissions (myself included) and the list in the Swap Shop is a good way to get a little bit of information about them.

They're sending posters that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing strawmen. They're bringing spam. They're trolls. And some, I assume, are good people."

Everyone will have armies or items they seem to be better in, no one will be quite a perfect all rounder.

Though I'm sure dakka will be able to help guide you from the less reputable or such ones out there.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.
