In the last Necron Codex the Royal Court was the most powerful cc unit in the game. Depending on set up you could take 7 MSS'd, 2+/3++4++++ that made 20 Str 8, AP1 attacked on the charge.

Now sadly that option is gone.

However my 11 lords and 6 crypteks need things to do.

Ideas please?

One Idea I had is that I could put out a royal court anyway, and make a unit of IC's, using 2 Royal Court formations, and put them into a ghost arc.

Shooting Court
1190 pts
2 Overlords
6 Lords
2 Crypteks

10 Staff of Light, (Str 5 AP3 Assault 3), would murder through squads of marines and pretty much everything else at 12 inches.
+8 Tachyon Arrows
+10 phase shifters
Access to other wargear buffs.

22 wounds, they're all 3+/4++4+++,

Combat Court
1120
2 Overlords
6 Lords
2 Crypteks

1 VR, 7xWS, 10 PS, 1Shroud, 1Veil, 2xPhy, 2xRes Orb, 1xSS, 1xGuantlet

Attacks (on charge): 24 Str 7 Ap2, 3+4++4+++, most killy thing in 40k?

So admittedly not as good as old Royal Court.

Thoughts? Or do I just put them into storage and hope C:Necrons 2019 for 11th edition brings back proper courts?

Your courts are going to be fine, they are more survivable now than before due to the r.p. rolls happening per wound, and they are better at hitting in close combat due to being ws5. You get the option to take multiple resurrection orbs, so there is multiple rerolls for r.p.

They are still a beatstick close combat threat, especially now that they can ride in a ghost ark for open topped transport goodness.

Very survivable but not the most killy.

Grey Knights

Grand Master w/ halberd, Prescience & Force
10 Paladins w/ halberds, Nemesis Banner & Hammerhand, Apothecary

Attacks on the charge: 46 Str 7 ap3, re-rolls misses, instant death, 2+5++5+++

Ap3 not as good as ap2 but with 40+ hits wounding most everything on 2s and instant deathing multiwound models not much can really stand up to this. And that's after taking 20 st7 rending psycannon shots that also re-roll misses.

Grey Knights 7500 points
Inquisition, 2500 points
Baneblade
Adeptus Mechanicus 3000 points

They don't really have a place in the game anymore, not in the old numbers at least. You end up spending deathstar levels of points without anywhere near that level of survivability or utility.
The very last game I ran under the old codex had 10 Crypteks in it. I feel your pain, but there's not much we can do about it. Hopefully you can enjoy the new toys that Necrons got.

You only get to re-roll a dice once, unless you mean RP re-rolls in more than one turn?

More than one turn, and they very much have the survivability death stars do. With more than one cryptek, you will get the 4+ r.p. no matter what the opponent throws at you besides D weapons and ranged weapons that remove you from play.

Turn them into kill teams and use them to represent characters in tabletop RPGs.
