So I posted this list up on another site, but the community for this came is somewhat sparse there, and I was hopping to get some extra input before I make any future purchases.

Keep in mind, though, the rangers are nonnegotiable and the list is sticking with the Normandy theater.

With luck the attachment works.

Not planning on facing any armour?

I was planning on trying to ignore the fact that tigers exist, and, if necessary, bomb the gak out of them.

I agree, a tank with two MG's and one Medium or Heavy rated antitank gun will have a field day. So a T-34 or T-34/85 or Panzer IV.

Might consider reducing an engineer squad and taking a Bazooka, equipping some rangers with antitank grenades?
Bazooka teams are really powerful. Small team, so hard to hit, and has a 24" radius of tank-death threat.

Hmm I hope if by "bomb" you don't mean "forward air observer" because there's none in your list

See, I was told Bazookas weren't worth the points.

Nope, the 105's. I was also told pinning was a viable way of mitigating enemy armor, and that 105's could pull that off. I was also advised to stay away from FAO's, mostly do to the size of the list and the chance that a good portion of my army could be reduced to people paste if I were to roll a one.

EDIT: What I could do is drop the 105 Sherman and the lighter armed engineer squad and replace them with a veteran M4A1 75mm and a veteran bazooka, and then spend what I'll have left on a spotter for the M2A1 and an SMG for my sniper team. How does that sound? This way I still have a 75mm HE if I need it and I'll be able to remove armor from the table.

IMHO Panzerschrecks and Bazookas and PIATs are totally worth it. A little infantry team you can't hit can reach out and wreck your tank that costs 5x their points value.

Pinning is a good way of mitigating armor thru pinning, but it's not foolproof. A lucky rally roll or the presence of a higher level commander (do not underestimate the value of a +3 or +4 for morale checks) could bring that threat back into play; and it's entirely possible a 72" range Pak 40 or something pops your 105 immediately (it IS a paper thin sherman... that's _really_ expensive)

You've got indirect covered with mortar and howitzer, I'd def just get a Sherman with lots of MG's, and a Bazooka team (maybe on a jeep). If you face an opponent with light armor, the Sherman and Bazooka can cause lots of damage; if you face an opponent with heavier armor, the Sherman can certainly pin and possibly penetrate, as well as the bazooka; if you face someone with a horde of infantry, well, the three MG's on that Sherman will have a field day

My only issue at this point is that I'm running low on resources: I can squeeze an M4A1 vet in and I can manage a Vet bazooka team, but I'm out of points where it comes to getting an extra MG on my Sherman. Would it be a good call to drop the 105mm howitzer down one rank, to a regular, in order to get a .30 on the the tank? Also, the software I'm using is telling me I can throw a gunshield on my 105, though my army book doesn't give me the option. Is this something which was added in an errata?

Yeah, Armies of the USA errata is the middle third of page 4 of this document - http://warlordgames.com/downloads/pdf/ba-errata.pdf
Relevant section

Page 32: Light Artillery (M1A1)
and Medium Artillery (M2A1).
Add the following:
Options
• May add a gun shield for +5 points.

The Regular vs Veteran vehicle thing is a tough call. The extra Morale is always great, and in the newer vehicle pinning rule, Veterans totally ignore heavy weapons that cannot penetrate them at all (versus all heavy weapons giving pins).

How about dropping the Veteran Artillery to Regular and add a gun shield? Your arty should be at the back and hopefully not taking hits (and the gun shield makes it a Def 6 so most rifles and MG's will bounce off) and it's got two crew to soak up casualties. Will that free up enough points to do Vet M4A1 w/ third MG and Vet Bazooka team?

With the 5 for the shield, it will free up exactly enough points to add the .30.

That shield is worth it.

Place your arty correctly and your opponent will always have something better to shoot at than that gun shield. OTOH it could be juicy target for unchecked armour.

Well it looks pretty good to me! As a mostly Veteran list, you will be outnumbered by many other 1k armies - especially Soviets, who will probably have twice as many order dice as you

But it definitely looks like a fun force. The great thing is that you can always add to it by taking your Vets as Regulars and putting in like three MMG teams or an M8 Greyhound!
