Stalwart Space Marine

I am currently changing from Ultramarines to Blood Angels. I have so many stripped down models!
Anyway, I am looking at the 10 Sternguard I have. BA have then but do they have a place in a BA list? I looked at some of the lists here on the forum, but wanted to ask if they are a viable option for my Blood Angels.

They're less viable only because vanilla can make better use of them. BA lend themselves more to their CC/jump units.

I disagree, ten tooled up SG in a Pod is always good, whatever flavour of Marine you are, heck, even 5 in a Pod with Combi Meltas is effectively a "opponent removes one tank for free" card.

Agreed. Stenguard in a Drop Pod can do a lot with Meltas or Flamers as one free "Hey, feth this unit" card.

They're no worse than their vanilla equivalents (barring the lack of Chapter Tactics). They just sit in a very competitive slot.
As part of an "in your face" BA army, I could see them having their place. Their shooting is terrific against MC's and infantry, and your opponent might be caught off guard (since I never see BA lists take Sternguard).

I have been using a Mephy + 9 naked sternguard in a rhino to great effect. I might add in 4 combi-meltas though.
There is no reason why Sternguard don't fit in a BA list. The slot, while competitive, is also increased in several formations.
I don't advocate their use in a pod, however. I find that it's best to delay their commitment in a battle.

Sternguard are part of the way to the fabled 'Sanguine Wing'. The Formation that gives you 400pts of free equipment for Vanguard and Sternguard Veterans. Downside is they don't get the Initiative 5 buff. But, it's up to you to run that sort of thing.
Otherwise, I've actually been running Sternguard (Tyrannic War Veterans but close enough in this example) in a Blood Angel Las/Plas Razorback and it holds the center pretty friggin well when the Razorback survives. They aren't a godsend, but they make a sturdy foot soldier spear point since I play Tacticals as babysitters for Devastators. Let's me use the more mobile units as I like when I don't NEED them reinforcing the center.

As said, they have a place. In a Baal Strike Force if you can find an Elite slot, they are as good as ever at shooting and frankly, 3 S5 I5 attacks each on the charge isn't to be snifed at (unlike their C:SM counterparts, who I would keep away from CC). I'd even be tempted to give them a Power Weapon on the Sarge, it would make the unit pretty nasty at range or up close.
In an Archangels detachment, Elite slots aren't an issue, so they could fit there as well, and adding a TDA HQ allows you to spend both your BSF HQs on SangPriests while still having a Libby or Captain.

Don't BA have that "angels" FOC that has like 12 elite slots?

Yeah, it's Archangels for the 1st Company. But it doesn't give the Initiative 5 on the charge. So it's suited for Sternguard and Terminators, but the HQ has to be in Terminator armor or a Librarian Dreadnaught. So taking a spare... Let's just call it 250pts to make room for a Sternguard squad is just not feasible for most lists. Especially if they're already using the four Elite slots. The points just aren't available in most games.

Don't take melta sternguard if you are going to pod them with only 1 other pod or by themselves. BA have a far cheaper way to put 1 less melta shot out from a pod, which won't be so bad if they go splat.
