If I ran this for 2k:

Gerantius
Paladin

Adamantine Lance
Paladin x3

According to the FAQ I could make any of them the Warlord....Figure the lone paladin would be best to bump his shield to 3++ since gerantius gets 3++ already and the formation gets a reroll.

You can make an Imperial Knight as a warlord by fielding three, in which case one can be the warlord OR having an imperial knight and no other characters. By doing so, you make the knight a character and can roll.

Yeah,I am aware of the faq. I am making sure the FAQ for 7th being at least 3 in an army counted detachments and I wasn't misinterpreting something.

Knight partly off the battle field! DQ'd! (joke)

It's easy to assume that people arguing an interpretation you disagree with are just looking for an advantage for themselves... But it's quite often not the case.

isn't Gerantius a character?

Any Knight can be nominated to be the Warlord so long as you have at least 3 Knights in your army even if you have a character. Also if your army has at least 1 knight and no other characters the knight can be your warlord.

This is 1500 points but I do have 5 total all are magnetized for both weapons.

Your a sick man! God I want to have something similar to this for Orks so badly, and NO! Stompas don't count, they are good but nowhere near as good/cool as a knight titan.

Ghazkuul, take 3 Imperial Knights. Orkify the crap out of them.

BAM! Instant Looted Knight. AKA a cooler looking Stompa.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

A fun idea, but still does not make the 'stompa' any better. All you did was make the Knight worse XD

But having an Ork 'Knight' equivalent would be nice, which I think a lot of people thought the Nauts were going to be.

At US$140 a model (that's GW prices; you should be able to get them for around $105 if you shop around), it's actually cheaper to buy 5 of them for a 1750 point army then try to build a similarly effective army in any other race. At 1500 points, 4 Imperial Knights will cost you US$560... still cheaper.

Effectiveness on the table? That's up to your meta.

Can only fit 5 in at 1850. Add the named guy as one of them and 4 palidans is exactly 2k. Can get 4 to fit at 1500.

Also the 3 in any army as a lance is pretty solid option too.
