Hello,
I had an order come in from GW today and included in it was a plastic bracelet with "Champion of Khorne " written on it.
I didn't see any other posts about this, so I figured I'd post about this promotional item.

Looks like another one of their unspoken promo items that are inconsistently placed in various order.

What, like maybe a new Bloodthirster, a new specialist Khorne unit for WHFB and the final, Chaos-themed, End Times book?
Something like that?

Little known fact. Those bands were created when GW was toying with the idea of going into the LARP business...
...this has no basis in reality.

I just had the mental image of people running around in a field swinging foam "hammer flails" at each other in real life (all of which were available direct only from GW's website and cost 2-3x what comparable LARP weapons cost despite being lower quality and full of holes).

I believe these are called: trinkets. Apparently they impress some people to no end, that they'll trade valuable items in exchange for them.

Citadel Battlefoam. Because GW doesn't care about the trademarks of other companies.
Anyway...I dunno, I find these cheap little trinkets and stuff placed in random orders kinda weird, personally. I don't necessarily get why they're doing it or what purpose it serves. I guess it's not really bad but I don't see many people caring that much. Usually I throw stuff like this in the trash, but that's just me.

What's wrong with free stuff being usable?
I suppose I could use the band as a cat collar, Champion of Khorne with some added mouse skulls, but I'd rather have a free pot of paint - yeah that's right, a whole pot of paint - omg they'll go out of business if they do that!!!

I also don't see how giving away dice as a freebie is so stupid, either. They're useful, they're a common gaming tool that you need to play (and often get for free in starter sets anyway), I don't imagine they're terribly expensive for a company like GW to produce anyway (even with a custom symbol on them)...
Contrary to what GW wants us to believe, dice are not a super premium product that should be sold for insanely high prices, in insanely low numbers ($17 for 10, when a fancy-looking block of 36 Chessex dice still comes in at less than that, albeit without the custom symbol), and for an insanely limited amount of time (in most cases with the window to purchase lasting mere minutes, as the super limited nature of them has attracted a special group of knobs who buy up as many as they can to sell on eBay for 2-3x retail price).
I just don't think it would be a terrible idea if, for example, on the release weekend for a new codex or army book they had an offer where if you buy the new book then they'll throw in like 6 of those special dice for free or something. Just something neat you can use for special rolls. But like I said, GW has everyone trained to think that dice are speshul now, and also doesn't see any point in providing an incentive to buying their overpriced gaming rulebooks because they expect everyone to be buying them anyway. Gaming rulebooks are also speshul and now everyone happily pays $50 for books that are barely thicker than a pamphlet and continuously keep having content removed from them. People pay upwards of $250 for super speshul limited edishun collector's gaming rulebooks that literally have no more "value" than the regular $50 release and will be worth just as much as soon as the rules content inside becomes outdated, which is also happening a lot faster than it used to. Don't even get me started on the fething cards...
Now stuff like faction pin badges or patches, I do like the idea of those as a freebie. That's something I wouldn't even mind paying for if it was on general sale and for similar prices to what PP offers (though the warjack pins that cost almost as much as an actual warjack model are pushing it in my opinion...). I'll never understand why GW doesn't offer more in the way of "merch", because clearly there are a lot of people out there who love their game worlds, the art, the aesthetics etc., and I think there's a lot of money that could be made selling posters, t-shirts, art prints, etc. that they're content to ignore for whatever reason. I personally have spent over $100 in the past few weeks on Riot Games store buying toys and posters for fething League of Legends of all things because I just love the characters and art for the game that much. I know I'm not the only one that really likes that kinda stuff.

These gimmicks are not free. You're still paying the GW premium rather than shopping at discount retailers.
I'd rather not pay $10-$30 USD for a rubber livestrong bracelet.
