Even if you don't tell what is in your transports, if it is written on your list as ( grey hunters in yellow rhino with flag, or something) there is no doubt if ever asked to prove it. I hide little numbers on all my vehicles, because it helps me differentiate. I'm not a big fan of notes under the transports, or even asking what is in transports (unless it is my opponent's transport ), but if you want to know they should tell you. If you can't trust the person you are playing, why are you player with them? Notations on the list should always denote little intricacies such as this, and full list disclosure is part of the game. This is what my group does and it works great, no dishonesty.

Ruses and trickery are part of the game and disclosure makes that part very difficult. But disclosure keeps people honest. I see both sides of this topic as somewhat valid. Make a house rule, that's compromise.

Blacktalos - shell games are possible, but only if the opponent lets it happen and agrees to it. Same with any variation of the rules.

If I decide to see the note, I will see the note. There is no rule saying you may keep it secret against the wishes of your opponent.

You may want to rephrase that if you make that argument during a game, that sounds like a threat from an action movie.

Forge some narrative people:

Most DTs will be covered in unit markings, making an id of contents pretty easy.

Orks will tend to be hanging off the side, jumping about on to etc...

The only exception is eldar, but then no one cares what's in the transport as the transport is what you're usually worried about anyway.

I'd always reveal contents unless I'm playing as Alpha legion. If anyone asks what transport my squad is in, id point to one of theirs. YMMV...

I've got two things to add to this (although I only got to half way through p2).

Firstly people seem to be of a common consensus that for a unit to be deployed in a transport at the start of the game then the transport must be deployed then you deploy the unit inside of it...
Why?
If this is the case it is impossible to infiltrate vehicles as the unit with infiltrate is not deployed in the transport when the transport is deployed so the transport will not gain infiltrate.
Does it not make more sense to say (and I don't see the rules contradicting this), that the unit STARTS inside the transport, therefore it is already embarked within it and thus does not need to embark on deployment?

Secondly, along the same vein, units which arrive in transports via reserve are at no point on the table before they arrive, so cannot be possibly removed from the table and put in a transport. They are already in a transport and at no point during the game or deployment 'embark', as they are already embarked. So... what do you do for these units?
