I have been working with different versions of this list, and here is where I am today:

Calgar - AoA
Tigerius
Command Squad - apothecary, 4 x plasma, drop pod

Tactical combat squad - Plasma, combi plasma, drop pod
Tactical combat squad - Plasma, combi plasma, drop pod
Tactical combat squad - Plasma, combi plasma, drop pod
Tactical combat squad - Plasma, combi plasma, drop pod
Tactical combat squad - Plasma, combi plasma, drop pod
Tactical combat squad - Plasma, combi plasma, drop pod

Sternguard squad - 2 x melta, 3 x combi melta, drop pod
Sternguard squad - 2 x melta, 3 x combi melta, drop pod
Legion of the Damned - melta, multi melta, combi grav

1995

With 12 obsec units, and 3 drop pods to block with, it is easy to carve an army apart and chew up the pieces. When it works, it is crazy good. When it doesn't, it is crazy bad. I love getting 5 pods on turn one. I ignore flyers. I score and tie my opponent up away from objectives (that i am scoring...)

Looks pretty straight forward. Have you thought about using more melta on the drop to help take out heavy armor? I think you should try at least one tac squad and one sternguard squad with melta. Also, what about giving the command squad melta bombs as well? I take it they will land with Calgar and Tiggy next to a MC to take it out... and you'll probably get charged the next turn so the melta bombs would help. What do you usually cast with Tigurius? Do you go for Invis?

Furthermore, what if you also allied in Blood Angels, swapped out the bare min to stay as a null deploy list, and get a pod for some grav dev cents?

Seems like good list but boring. Why calgar? What does he bring by himself that you couldn't use elsewhere?

Deathwind launchers on the drops, they can fire same turn they arrive now.

A Dark Angel fell on a watcher in the Dark Shroud silently chanted Vengance on the Fallen Angels to never be Unforgiven

Besides being an all around good beatstick, he lets you use the same chapter tactic doctrine twice. For a tac heavy list like this, that’s two turns of twin-linking everybody

And I agree that it could use a splash of melta.

This looks similar to an army my brother plays, its nasty. Calgar is a fething toolbox, mucho respect to that dude.

I gotta echo the sentiment for more melta here especially on the cmd squad and sterns. You need some anti tank for things like IKs or av12+ and besides it just jives better with that relentless orbital bomb.

Other than that I'd give the lotd serg a cbgrav as well. Lets them be dual purpose due to SnP.

Good list. Looks quite simple but could be effective. Imho have a couple more squad changed to melta wielding and let them be part of your 1st wave drop, because you would want to explode those vehicle transports than firing plasma to those passanger falling out.
Moreover, it is better to take a few stormshield in that command squad. I believe you definitely don't want your expensive "deathstar" squad got blown to pieces by S8 AP2 large blast fired from that EWO Ripetide before you get a chance to fire those plasma.

This does count as unbound at this point, with 7 troops. Just pointing that out incase you wanted Objective secured

There's no turning back... Triumph or oblivion.

Haha, I think that is just a typo by the original poster, he then said 12 Objsec units, which comprehensively is his 6 Tac and 6 pods.

My mistake.

Yes, I had one too many troops, cut and paste error. Fixed the original and updated it.

Calgar is for double doctrine, and he is a ridiculous beatstick.
I choose powers based on the opponent, but invisibility is usually pretty big.

I changed the sternguard to melta, and the next game I played was a guard/knight list. He was sad that I changed the sternguard to melta...
