It had a big patch yesterday, and there's now little need to pay for the monthly sub.

There's now a store, for mounts and costumes.
Subscribers get 'free' money for the store, and XP boosts.

If you bought the game but got put off by the monthly fee, see what's changed.

I might take a look at this, now... I played the closed beta and it seemed ok... but not worth a sub at the time. Now that it's F2P? Maybe...

I heard it was going to happen, and sometimes companies give stuff to current subscribers. So, I signed back up. Nothing, apart from apart from a part-month of Crowns (store coins)

Nothing much appears to have changed for low levels, as my main was only level 15. But, as part of update 6, all skill points were refunded.

Yes. The game is essentially modelling itself along the lines of GW2 with regard to business model.

Good. B2P is the best business model there is for the consumer. People will think twice before misbehaving when there's 60$ at stake. Wife's always been interested in it and might pick it up.

I was a subscriber for 6 months after release but now that the sub fee is gone I have been playing a lot. The game feels way better than it did previously. Pretty pleased with it.

Bought 1 month and played for about 2 hours. Never again. Might be free now, but trying to download it is taking days. I'll pass.

FTP and BTP seemed the same, but aren't.

It's worth the purchase just for the PVP imo.
