I would first like to say that all of my statements ore based on the observations of my army performance in my local group and meta.
I have noticed that my GK are averaging about middle tier status. I can defeat SM and MEQ's fairly well but have trouble with sterotypically long range and heavy hitting shooty armies like eldar tau and Necrons. My question is this. Can builds that include basic striek squads, dreadnoughts, brother captains and brotherhood champions be effective in most metas? I feel like they would be effective against MEQ armies because it is still cheap AP3 CC and the mid and close ranged shooting is fairly effective regardless of units used. also mobility lists using interceptors and storm raven mounted purifiers with a small contingent of deep striking terminators be effective against some armies? it was the most different list from the DS terminator/ librarian/ dread knight lists i have seen and run in the past. Are these somewhat viable?

Strike squads are junk man. They messure up pretty good to a tactical squad. Heck they SHOULD beat a tactical squad up pretty easy. Problem is delivery system is junk.
SR are decent. and SS work okay out of them - but why not just put purifiers in them?
I can't beat eldar with my GK ether...I think eldar are the hardest matchup for GK. Tau are easy if you spam dread knights.

GK are pretty much average now. Externally they are probably the most balanced, I have trouble thinking of an army that will outright break their knees turn one; Internally... well we know how that is.
Still the army will forever live in fear of 3 things, grav guns, EWO Riptides, and Eldar in general.

The strongest thing about Grey Knights is that they're Imperium. I say it all the time, but being an Imperial army is basically the best boon you can have. As much as people might not want to buy new armies/codices to shore up their weaknesses, the fact that you can means that you're automatically a good army.

You never "can't" do that, it's part of the game. Unless you play with really strict anti-ally houserules, I guess.
And saying it's not a viable point because you don't want to do it is silly. Tyranids don't become a bad army because you don't want to buy a Hive Tyrant with Wings, if you don't want to take a strong option, then that's a choice.

i guess I should clarify. I meant is there a situation where using PAGK instead of TAGK as troops would be better/more efficient.
In other areas of the codex, the substations are obvious, like you are better running a 10 man purifier squad and combat squadding it down to get better purgation squads that are elites rather than HS, and i know that in objective or maelstrom interceptors have the potential to be really powerful.
I am looking at relatively effective way to field different lists besides the Librarian/ terminators / dread knights. I have made some purifier heavy lists but even that still feels played out or cheesy to some extent.

Don't worry about troops. Take that special GK formation which lets you only take one troop choice if you want to.
Strike Squads are too expensive for what they get you, especially compared to to GK Terminators. Psycannons on Power Armor dudes are terrible now.

Not really. Barring cover, Terminators are twice as survivable against AP4+, 5 times as survivable against AP3 and 33% more survivable against AP1/2. Terminators are basically 2 PAGK in survivability and attacks. In the old codex they were also twice the cost so this conversation came down to personal preference at times; but now they are 1.65 times the cost, meaning that generally you're getting more for your money by taking termies. They also have relentless, which is a big deal in an assault-oriented army with salvo weapons.
The only real reason to take strike squads is if you just need more bodies to cover more ground, for example if you plan on deepstriking and camping objectives in a maelstrom mission. Then they can stay stationary, and still beat back fast/weak obsec units that try to score. However, terminators still do this better, and even though 2+/5++ means a lot less these days it still helps with resiliency and relentless gives them options.
Personally, I think it's perfectly fluffy to run lots of termies, it's right in the codex. I also love the GK terminator models (especially the 4th ed metal ones).

Completely true, the problem is a pure GK force is so expensive that 55 points will let you upgrade a unit, which really only synergizes with the hated builds of our codex, i.e. 4 Dreadknights @1500 or Gravstar.
