I was away to type "SERIOUSLY Mantic?!" but I didn't see any of their logos.
I assume then that this is Topps themselves doing a game based on their popular Mars Attacks IP that you see everywhere and is really popular and didn't just have that one rubbish movie in 1996 and is really popular and everyone talks about all the time and no one is confused as to why this has suddenly resurfaced.

Just me?

I quite enjoyed the Mars Attacks! movie tbh. Was good fun
Some interesting stuff from the boardgame too

Yeah, no Mantic logo, no mention of this by Mantic, assuming it's purely a Topps product.

I agree that it probably is just going to be Topps and cards, but who knows

I'll update when I find more (and if it is just cards quietly let the thread die)

they might end up with the game as an add on though

Following through to the link, it says that this is a trading card series. So exactly like the original 1960s line, and the more recent ones in the 1990s, 2010s etc. - art on one side, a number and a bit of story on the other. No game component!

I think it's one of those dormant IPs that is both iconic and now 'fresh' again, due to shifting tastes. They released some new cards and a line of graphic novels for the 50th Anniversary in 2012, released the Mantic game in 2014 (which reportedly sold very well), and are presumably trying to keep the momentum up while they can.

Best comment I've seen regarding the rebooted Thunderbirds was on the Empire cinema/film site:

"They made them look just like the puppets, using crappy CGI? What a [expletive deleted] colossal waste of everyones time"

I was probably a little harsh (for the sake of comedy) about calling it rubbish. It was dumb fun. Its a "sunday night and the remote is just out of reach" movie. I wouldnt buy it on blueray is what Im going for here.

Haha, you're not there any more, i post with my phone a lot and must've pressed ignore while trying to quote someone who posted just below you.

Edit, or maybe it was an edit, the edit button is right under ignore.

Ill never forget the sound of their voices though, they were creepy in all sorts of ways.

Well they've just shown what the pledge levels are

No physical content relevant to the Mantic Boardgame,

but

the $10 pledge is a PDF of the 45 (story) trading cards + PDF of exclusive miniatures game scenario

so if you're a completionist you might want to pick it up

It's the nostalgia trip, not the game. The original MA trading cards were actually pulled off the shelves, making it a *really* small print run. Topps has released various MA trading card series, so think of this set as a sequel to their trading card line. This one's more for the franchise fans, not the gamers. Will definitely look into it, though!
