I've been working on this guy for about the past week and just finished him up last night. For those of you who don't follow my plog, I've been steadily acquiring Space Marines that I've been painting up to look more like proper military rather than space knights. Colors are mostly drab with US WWII markings to give them a more gritty, military feel.

So, here's my Dread!

Looks great.
Are you by any chance hoping to use it as a Raptors chapter dread? They have a very similar (kind of identical) paint scheme.

I was somewhat inspired by their colors. I'm actually planning on using it as a standard Dread (only have 3rd ed rulebook and vanilla SM Codex). I've kept it modular so I could use it as a standard one. The thing on top of it is also magnetized for just that purpose.

Well, he does have clamps. Maybe I should've painted him yellow to really make him look like Clamps.

Looks great! Might be worth using a wash on the bronze to match the grittiness of the rest of it?

You know what. I kind of agree.

The paint job is great and doesn't need this, just for the record. I really, really like what you've done. I just think maybe a bit more Agrax wash on the bronze parts to grime them up a bit would be that tiny extra bit that helps.

Very neat, idea! Do you have any pics of the rest of your force?

There actually is a wash on the brass bits, it just didn't show up too well for some reason. I think I may add an extra Agrax one though.

Unfortunately, I'm in the process of moving, so a lot of my stuff is physically inaccessible to me right now. But, I've been working on and off at making Marines in this scheme and have been taking pics as I go along. Here's a few.

Holy cow. That Sternguard Sgt. Just wow. Guy looks amazing. That red glow on the eyes just sets him apart and makes him super atmospheric.

I'm probably going to allow myself to be inspired by (see: steal) your idea on my Wolves. Really like the ammo pouches and bolter/HB redesign. How did you do those? Where did you get the helmet/shoulderpads bitz?

I think the latest SW sprues are ridiculous. So much chintz and tacked on decoration. It's like what the Dark Angels 'think' Wolves look like. Thanks for something fresh.

Those are deliciously heretical. I'd love to see you do some Tartaros termies.

Those look great. The Anvil kits look REALLY good as properly kitted out Marines. I have a set sitting around waiting for me to finish collecting beakie heads to make them a Raptor squad.

Really digging that dread too.

While I'm not really keen on the scheme on the dread, it works great on the marines, and the paint job itself is fantastic.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! In my current living situation, there isn't a lot of good lighting for photographing this stuff and by the time I get home from work, there's no daylight left to take pics with, so this weekend, if I have the opportunity, I'll take some more pics of my Terminators and Scouts as well as the second Dread for you all.

The cluttered bling all over most Space Marines is a real turn off for me. That's why I hope GW actually does make 30k plastics. They shouldn't have as much junk all over them. I want my Space Marines to look like proper Marines. As a result, I wound up having to do a fair bit of shaving on that Blood Angels Dread.

The minigun guy is actually mostly just 3rd party bits I had lying around. The only GW bits on him are his torso and some IG packs. The arms + minigun, backpack, and legs all come from Anvil Industries. The head and shoulder pads are Puppetswar, and that rifle on his back is from Mantic's Deadzone zombie sprue.

And I'd like to have some Tartaros Termies. Too expensive for me though.

I love Anvil Industries' stuff. I found out about his stuff around the time he first started digitally sculpting parts over hand sculpting and I've been in love with his work ever since. His Afterlife range is amazing. Plus, the dogs he made for it were an idea I had suggested to him.

Okay, I forgot to get the Termies, but here's the Scout squad and the other Dread.
