I went for a red for the canopy, the lascannons could be a lot more developed, however I really don't care that much about the quality of "conversion". If it is wysiwyg then it's good enough; worst case I can add to it later. And white scars....?

Loving the Xiphon. Did the canopy come opaque or did you paint it? If it were clear, I would have gone with Tamiya clear red painted on the inside.

It did come clear but I don't have any tamiya paints; however I assembled it very limitedly, no interior detail or anything as I was planning to paint over it.

The xiphon is 90% done at this point paint wise, only the lightning highlights and engine glow left at this point, possibly will do bronze around the bits right before the side engines

I decided against the engine glow to keep the model fairly gritty so its now done! for now

I'm really pleased with how the weathering turned out and brought the model together, though I know some of my bare metal chips aren't very realistic . I also decided to splotches of weathering close to the lascannons to represent their firing affecting the paint around it.







I finally got my Forgeworld order in so I'll also be finally giving my guys their volkites as well as painting up the seargent for this squad pretty soon

Really nice work! Looks the part for a 40k dogfighter! Amazing how a paintjob can transform a model!

Thanks I'll admit before I primed it I was a bit doubtful about how it would turn out. I'll say it again though, that weathering really made it look better.

I have finished the seargent but light has gotten worse so I'll take pictures of him tomorrow and the rest of the demi-squad

Now it needs the pilot lettering under the canopy.

I'd vote for Captain B. Wayne as the pilot

Also will there be any tail insignia on it?bi think it could use just a tad more red, like the legion logo on the thrusters.

That viper conversion is coming along beautifully. I really like the canopy paint job.

I was considering something for the tail but i didn't really know what to do, maybe the legion symbol from a sideview instead? I might also do the legion number on one of the thrusters

Thanks Just need the missiles and its all done. The canopy idea is more to avoid the classic gemstone effect with the lines representing the glare; I just did khorne red and then mixed washed it to get it dark and then mixed it with spacewolf grey for the pink

However, as promised I have my 5 terror squad guys (terrorizers?) done and equipped with volkites



For the seargent (actually called a headsman I think) I used some chain glaives from Anvil Industries for his nostraman chain glaive. At first I was worried about the size as it looks a bit small compared to regular chain weapons, but having seen Sevetar's its a lot more in line with his so there shouldn't be a problem.

As to his paint job itself; for his helmet I did a "bloody handprint" on the faceplate, though it can be tricky to make out the detail clearly (one still gets the impression of blood on his faceplate though so I think it works). I actually did less lightning on him compared to his friends, however I thought that with the bloodied glaive there might be too many details so I erred on the side of caution.

The paintjob on the xiphon is awesome, still not liking the lascannon placement. U need a flight stand cuz I got an extra one? The terror squad rocks, the anvil bit works pergectly.

Yea I thought it was pretty good for them, was going to call it a "Nostramo" pattern xiphon :p

They look really good! The Viper also looks the part. Your paintwork on these guys is very impressive - and looks far better on these models then it does on standard CSM.

Cool squad. Any thoughts on a basing scheme yet?

Ugh, I want to go with stirland mud, but sevetar is on an installation/space ship base and curze is on ruins. It'll look weird no matter what

I'm sorry I haven't updated in a bit, but it was because I was busy working on the First Captain himself; Sevetar the Condemned. I finally got a good lamp so I can paint well at night, which is good However its really hot so paint dries really fast, also it makes all my pictures yellow :( I might retake them later because I'm not a fan of my models in a 70s porn movie lol






Sev had a ton of detail and I painted him completely unassembled so I didn't miss anything, especially with all the nooks and crannies that's on this model. Because of this I didn't do as much lightning on him as I did on everyone else, but I might go back and do some on his left vambrace and greave. I also chose to do the skull on his right shoulder in bronze because in ADBs series he says the Atremntar (first company) have bronze lion heads on their shoulder guards and this looked bestial and feline so I decided it would be a more realistic version since the DAs have 'the lion' so a skull version would be better

I'm also really liking how he likes with the rest of my Terror squad so far



Although sometimes he gets challenged by fools

So I was pretty unhappy with a) the yellow tint to my photos of Sevetar and b) some details on him so I reshot him after tweaking some things.







I changed his helmet wings from red to bronze, his left elbow guard and leg..squares(?) to bronze as well. This really helped to break up the model more and tone down the red. Additionally, I darkened his hands so they wouldn't be overpowering and added more lightning

He looks fantastic! Great stuff!

I painted his hands red as the fluff in Massacre says that terror squads are often filled with the condemned; the chain on his wrist also symbolizes his punishment while the tears are supposed to be ironic, his design was in place before he was marked with the red hands

So I realized I havent been updating this thread lately (been almost a month to be honest), but that doesnt mean I havent been painting!

I decided to to all energy except the volkite purple; matches the sword and is less harsh than the red.
