.. still can't quite get used to Simon Pegg being in massive films like this, but fair play to the guy

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Looks like this will be fun. Give me car chases, gunfights and the odd one-liner and I'll be happy enough!

Pegg may be getting paid more these days, but I still don't think he'll ever top Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz!

Wow, that looks very uninteresting. Even Simon Pegg can't make me care about this movie. This makes me sad.

I miss the old t.v. series where the team worked together to out wit or set their targets up instead of all the explosions, shootings, etc. that can be seen in any other action show. To me, the movie versions of Mission Impossible might as well be titled, "The Tom Cruise Show".

It is almost as if fictional films aren't based on reality. Next you'll say people can't fight on top of a bullet train while fighting a helicopter or run around the outside of the worlds largest building all willy-nilly.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I agree, the first movie had more of the feel of the original with the team being more of the story. The rest, and specifically the second one, were so much of a Tom Cruise face-fest that I forgot what the movie was about.

If Tom Cruise didn't need a close-up every third shot and would give some story-time to the rest of the ensemble then I might be more excited about this franchise.

Mindless action movies should be left where they belong, in the 1980's, MI t.v. show was more about outwits than half-wits!

I was actually enjoying the first one up to the point in the early part of the show where they killed everyone off but Cruise. The part that really flushed it once and for all with me was when they had Phelps turn out to be a traitor. Basically they stole the name for an innovative television show to make just another action movie that would have had the same quality without the Mission Impossible label.

1. A lot of movies seem to do that. Take a big cast and then in the first 10 minutes - kill them all off except for the protagonist.

2. I like to Cruise as an actor but not so much as a person. Is it ok if I enjoy his movies?
