I like it! The Stormsword is my favorite Super Heavy in the game (Followed Closely by the Hellhammer), and your 4 Chimeras with Plasma and Melta should do a decent job of keeping dangers away from your LoW.

Each Chimera only allows 2 models to fire out so you can cut a few of the extra special weapons to give the Company Command Squad their own Chimera.

150 - CCS: 2 Meltaguns, Chimera, Camo Netting
150 - Vets: 2 Meltaguns, Chimera, Camo Netting

170 - Vendetta:

The CCS is destined for a ride in the Vendetta to be dropped off in blasting range of any huge threats. With a FRF,SRF order on 4 melta vets, bad things happen to their target.

FRF SRF only effects lasguns and their variants.

As an alternative if you do not have somewhere for the points you can trade 2 of the special weapons out of the squads for heavy flamers. That way you still get the two shots out the access hatch and if charged you can take advantage of the wall of death rule.

I'd personally only want the Vendetta to have to worry about shooting, rather than carrying my Warlord, but if you're set on it, you can: put the CCS in the Vendetta, drop their Chimera and its Camo Netting, and use the last 90 points to purchase 3 squads of 3 Ratlings to Infiltrate around the board.

100 - CCS: 4 Meltaguns
150 - Vets: 2 Meltaguns, Chimera, Camo Netting

I think some of your point values are off on that list.

I played the first list you suggested on this post (minus the plasma), and got trounced by Salamanders spamming drop pods with melta guns.
We deployed corner to corner and he kept all his units outside of Stormsword range first turn then dropped behind and besides my Stormsword and turned it into slag. From there he picked off the rest of my Chimerias and cleaned house.
The dice gods were not with me tonight.

Which units' points do you think are off? Just saying you think the total is wrong doesn't help me find the problem.

Sorry your game went badly. You were up against an army practically (if not actually) tailored to counter your list, so there wasn't much to be done. Guard's Super-heavy Tanks are fine against traditional deployment, but are pretty weak against Drop Pod lists.

I'm currently playing primarily Grey Knights, and your tale just shows that the Grey Knights aren't great at anything compared to other armies. We're a one trick pony with Alpha Stike, yet we can't match the efficiency of a swarm of Drop Pods loaded up with Melta units.

OK, for some reason I was using 55pts for the base Chimera. That's where the extra points were. Sorry about that.

Next week the campaign's point limit is 1250, so I'm going to tweak this list. I'm planning to drop the Vendetta and a Vet squad (-330 points) and pick up a Wyvern. I would have 10 points left over, would Extra Armor on the command Chimeria be a viable use of those points?

If you're expecting any more Drop Pod nonsense you could re-arrange the list to include an Inquisitorial Detachment with Coteaz and Meltagun Acolytes to erase arriving Drop Pods and their occupants, as Coteaz's unit can all fire at every enemy unit that arrives from reserves within 12" of him, before they get to do any shooting.

That is a pretty good idea. Do they have to have line of sight after after they hit the field, or are they assumed to shoot them when they are in the process of dropping in?
If he is in a transport, does his transport get to shoot?

It may be a dumb question, but it determines how close to the tank I'll keep the dudes.

It's their final location after scatter. Cover and LoS count as usual.

Starting to see the merits of an Inquisitional Landraider Crusader with Psybolt ammo. If Cortez is in his LR, does it get the I've Been Expecting You shots?
Prolly not for this low points with a superheavy, but for future reference.

Somewhere on Terra

Chimera is quite a weak vehicle so drive near cover to take advantage of camo netting - also I recomment the Forward Sentries Doctrine - camo gear (+1 to cover saves) and snare mines (negate the enemy attack for charging) for only 10pts/squad.
Try and get near an enemy vehicle with the chimera and veterans so you can use the anti tank stuff if possible.
Quite a balanced army with sufficient anti - vehicle stuff although the vets are quite vulnerable once out of the chimeras.

It is only his unit, and even embarked on a vehicle, he isn't "joining" the vehicle's unit. He can't give a transport this benefit.

I think Ideally he and his unit would be enclosed in an Aegis line, so they benefit from 4+ cover on all sides, and you don't necessarily need to invest in Crusaders (The Warband option, not the Land Raider Variant) as meat shields.

Inquisitorial Detachment: "Coteaz Melta-storm"
Coteaz (100)
12 Acolytes with Meltaguns (168)
Aegis Defense Line (50)
318 points total if my numbers are correct.

Warbands can have up to 3 servitors with multi melta for 10 points a pop

Good catch. Stick three of them in there will save you 12pts.

Do you feel like taking the tl lascannon for Coteaz to man would be a good return on points?

Only the Quad-gun is Twin-linked, and both it and the Icarus Lascannon have Skyfire that means if your oponent doesn't have fliers they'll only be making Snap-shots anyway.

If you wanted you could take a Jokaero Weaponsmith or two, as they can fire Lascannons, and they have the added benefit of improving the rest of the unit, anything from giving them Invulnerable Saves, to increasing the range of their weapons by 12" (which would be really good for the Meltas, because then they'd get the extra dice it 12" instead of 6").

Is there a limit on the number of special weapons acolytes you can take in a warband?

You're right I totally missed that. Any Acolyte can take a Boltgun, Storm Bolter or Hot-shot Lasgun, but only 3 per unit can take the other weapons. My bad.

With that in mind you can still field:

Coteaz (100)
Warband: 3 Meltagun Acolytes, 3 Multi-melta Servitors, 2 Jokaero Weaponsmiths (142)
Aegis Defense Line (50)
292pts

Not quite the Melta-storm I'd intended, but it's still 6 Meltas and 2 Lascannons shooting at evey Droppod and disembarking unit within 12".

Well, they are expensive, but you can add as many plasma priests as you want to that.
