Subject: Making a Khorne army - just a couple of friendly Chaos questions!

Hello everyone!
First off
FOR THE DARK GODS
okay with that out of the way, i have a few questions;
I haven't played chaos for many years and with the new Khorne codex looming (which is what my chaos army is) i was wondering what to put on my terminators, I was thinking all 5 of them with lightning claws, is that a viable build considering i just want to get up close and personal?
I was also considering warp talons as i really like the idea of the model, anyone have any experience with them? From my research it seems people don't rate them that well.
Lastly, i was thinking of putting a maulerfiend and a soulgrinder in there, would they fit nicely in the khorne list? Or would a forgefiend be better?
Thanks a lot!

Honestly I like to give my terminators combi-weapons and send send them on a one way trip to hell. Nothing is better than deep striking behind a tank or next to a warlord and slagging them with a bunch of melta shots. If you do want to go with the twin claw plan, I would recommend getting them a transport since you cant charge out of deepstrike. Overall the two claw plan isn't bad as long as you use it right. It will rip through everything up to MEQ. But it's going to suffer against higher saves and toughness values and they're really bad for dealing with vehicles.
Warp talons are overcosted. Despite all the interesting stats they get, they really just cost too much. Plus they're deep strike ability is wasted since they cant't do anything the first turn after they deep strike. They also lack grenades so charging into cover is annoying.

Thanks evil Kiwi! So really the twin claws is only going to be effective with a land raider? Which i suppose isn't a bad idea for thinning down a front line.
also maybe you can help me, i'm sure i heard somewhere that if you have an army dedicated to Khorne, the max number of units in a squad is 8, is that correct?
So maybe i'll put the talons on the back burner for now, maybe invest in a forgefiend or a hellbrute. any idea on the soul grinder?
Cheers!

Soul grinders seem very popular. A daemon unit , but looks like they are in daemonkin (you may want to wait for this so you can build your list properly.
For the terminators , I wouldn't over specialise. Mix in a chainfist or two , so you can dent 2+ saves and vehicles...
Warp talons really do seem quite bad.
That squad size of 8 thing is from like 10 + years ago who told you that haha

Yeah i will wait for that to do it fully.
I was looking to buy the new deamon set when it comes out, but it comes with another 5 termies, Is there a use for two 5 man squads?
apart from using Kharn, does anyone have any experience with using abbadon or a regular terminator lord?

Yep, the ultra chaotic chaos gods demand you to stick to exact numbers, because that's chaotic. Nearly as much as making each and every chaos demon humanoid.
Around 3rd edition you got some bonuses if your Cult troops were multiples of the specific god's number.

I don't use my termi's often, but when I do I normally outfit them as follows:
Champion>Lightning Claw, Chainfist, Gift
2x Power Sword/Axe, Combi-(plasma/melta, whichever I have less of in army)
1x Dual Claws
1x Chainfist, Reaper/Heavy Flamer
1x Power Sword, Combi-bolter (to hold khorne icon thingy, the FC/re-roll charge one)
I personally tend to run these guys with Zhufor. Though sometimes Abaddon. With the former I just use them as a fire magnet, as for some reason my champions always seem to roll shrouded. With abby I'll attach an unmarked termi sorc who hopefully got invisibility, and I'll increase their durability that way.
For a standard terminator lord, I think the AoBF is wasted on him a bit, mostly due to his speed, so I'd probably go with either power axe/burning brand or LC/chainfist.

I'm with Evil Kiwi in the specialized terminator camp. Nothing like dropping a 5 man termicide squad into an opponents backfield, popping 5 combi-melta's at valuable armor.
Second option seems to be kitting out for all melee and loading them in a land raider, however that's a much bigger point commitment.
In regards to Maulerfiends, try to run them in packs of 2 if possible. I've found that 1 will draw a lot of fire as a bullet sponge (distraction carnifex), but will have little effectiveness before it gets wrecked haflway to the enemies line.

You scatter out of melta range, now you have a few Krak missiles with AP1, not that impressive, then the enemy has 1 free turn shooting at you with all his army. You have 33% chance to roll a hit on scatter, that's like hitting a target with orks.

That's a good point, and I have a bad history of deepstrike mishaps (rarely run any deepstriking units myself these days).
It's especially more difficult if your opponent is smart and bubblewraps his backfield with cheap fodder (conscript blobs everywhere!!!).
