hi. Im starting a blood angels army and Im a total noob. I only own a few models ( exactly 4) and I dont know squat about the rules of the game yet as Ive never played or even seen the game played with my own eyes yet. Im mostly a hobbyist hoping to find someone near me soon thats into 40K. My question is can my blood angels use the centurions in my army? If not why and can I make it a Flesh tearer or something so I CAN use it somehow?

blood angels themselves can't. You would have to ally a generic space marine chapter and then take them.

I have the same issue with my DA I also want centurions but have to take them as allies. So what I'm planning g on doing is getting a librarian a tac squad and the centurions paint them in DA colors Bring them as an allied detachment but count them as if the were DA

I was afraid of that. So I could use maybe the flesh tearers with my blood angels and use them or would it have to be somewhere more along the lines of like the imperial fists or someone like that?

Yeah no go with blood angels centurions

Imperial fists would give you the best CT for them

Though im sure there might be a nice FW one

Get a squad of those, some sniper scouts and a librarian or Chaptermaster beat stick and call it a day.

Why would you want Centurions? The rules GW give you for them leave a lot to be desired practicality wise and the models are pretty awful by 2015 standards.

Err, the Dark Angels don't use Centurion suits. They have to be fast giving their Hunting roots and theme, Cents are the exact opposite of fast.

Skip centurions, many players hate playing against them.

There are a lot of great units for blood angels - find some friends you can play with, either borrowing models or proxying them (using something else).

Then you will get a chance to see what works for you, and then you will know what to buy.

Thanks for the input guys. What would you guys go with instead of the centurions? Here are the models I have so far. 1 Space Marine Tactical Squad that Im using as Blood Angels, 1 Blood Angel Tactical Squad, 1 Death Company and 1 Sanguinary Guard squad. As I stated I just got everything and this is my third week of being in this hobby. I have the Blood Angels Codex and a 7th Ed. Rule book so far. Next week I will be ordering a couple of models if everything works out. I dont get a lot of money each month so I have to make anything I purchase count and I also have to factor in making it last as far as giving me something to do so any suggestions that help are appreciated.

You should consider getting some kind of leader for your force. A captain?

You are going to want at least one rhino or razorback eventually.
Two prolly. A ball predator is a good kit as well.

But I would say - take your time.
Paint your minis, try and learn the game.

Also, watch some battle reports (youtube, or miniwargaming.com) and see what you like in blood angels lists.

so I should only play ravemwing? Cuz last I check everything else isn't fast.
And because not everyone thinks they look bad. They look F**KING Amazing to me. And bacause I like that they get 15 shots that basically wound 90% of the things they'll be shooting at on 3 're-rolling wounds

What's wrong with Centurions? Unless you play with nerfed invisibility, invisible centurions are an awesomely effective deathstar -- and not a terrible thing to add to BA. The models aren't the best, for sure, but I mean, there are lots of early-plastic kits that are useful, like SM bikes.

There's nothing wrong with Centurions, in my opinion >.<

If they look amazing to you, go for it, man. In fairness, the scupts are not as detailed as the newest plastics, for instance, Blood Angels Tacticals and Assault Terminators, Harlequins, et cetera. But hey, most of the stuff isn't... Also, Grav centurions are also click-boom against vehicles, and if you make it invisible, against certain armies, they are devastatingly effective. At least you can't make it a Draigostar (where you have guaranteed gate of infinity).

I agree -- Rhinos and Razorbacks are sorta staples of BA armies. For 75 GBP (plus 15% for shipping, duties, blah blah unless you have a large order), you can have a Sicaran battle tank, instead of the predator.

You're joking, right? They're only the most fearsome unit in the biggest codex in the game. 15 shots wounding on armor save and re rolling wounds. On a 6 they immobilize a vehicle. With psychic support you can give them prescience, Ignores cover, 4++, invis, gate, etc. Tonight I got Ignores cover and the 4++. They killed about 500 points of models and didn't take a wound. Yea, that really leaves a lot to be desired out of a 250 point unit...

I would ally in either tigurius for 3 powers you get to re roll and re roll on psychic tests, draigo for automatic gate or sevrin loth for 3 powers you can choose instead of rolling for them. Stick them in a fast attack pod and watch them annihilate the enemy. Either the grav cents or my stormfang are the MVP of every game I've played with them (approaching 50 games with my new list).

Well, if you go Unbound, you can mix centurions and blood angels.

AI & BFG: / BMG: Mr. Freeze, Deathstroke / Battletech: SR, OWA / Fallout Factions: BoS / HGB: Caprice / Malifaux: Arcanists, Guild, Outcasts / MCP: Mutants / SAGA: Ordensstaat / SW Legion: CIS / WWX: Union

You can mix them by bringing an allied detachment. No reason to go unbound.

If you want to win games you are going to get some centurions. As a blood angels primary detachment you are fortunate enough to have fast attack drop pods that you can put your centurions (only SW and BA can do this.)

Allies only require an HQ and a troop

Scouts in a LSS is 105 points (an awesomely effective unit for it's cost)
Lvl 2 libby is like 90 points. Or Tigarius is 165 (tiggy is probably worth it here)

Then you can get your centurions.
Take Grav Cannons and rockets on each and an omni scope. (this is the most powerful unit in the game when supported by psychic powers) 3 or 4 man is good.

Get some other psychic support from a BA Libby or Mephiston. The rest just fill with tacticals and death company or assault squads. Should be a pretty strong force.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.
