So there is an Unbound 750pt league coming up at the FLGS, and I have just recently finished my first squad of Genestealer Cult.

I'm Planning on doing a themed Genestealer Cult/Genestealer heavy list for this unbound league as I now have those guys finished.

This is what I'm thinking, I dont really know AM much at all but I only have 11 Genestealer Cult guys (8 with Lasguns, 2 Las Pistol CCW, 1 Bolter PW). The plan is to expand to 21 models and make 2 vet squads with some special weapons in each.

So the 750pt list:

Lord Commisar (Bolter, Power Maul, Carapace Armour, Melta Bombs) - 90
Veterans - 60
Genestealer Brood (5 Genestealers, Broodlord) - 200
Genestealer Brood (5 Genestealers, Broodlord) - 200
Genestealer Brood (5 Genestealers, Broodlord) - 200
Total - 750

I know this wont be very competative, and yes Genestealers are considered quite bad at the moment. But what I do hope this list provides is a fun game for both sides and to me this is a fluffly list. I also love using painted models and getting 30 Genestealers painted up wont be too hard with the airbrush, It should look nice.

It does look like fun. But you'd likely be happier with some sort of AT even if it is just a Melta grenade...

I've always liked the idea of Stealer Cult. Maybe you can toss in a Hybrid "Ministorium Priest".

If you get a chance let us know how it goes!

Have you looked into any of the genestealer dataslates? Maybe consider using one of them so that you can get those formation rules to really infiltrate your forces in, especially since you're playing unbound anyway.

Just to clarify, that's +5 stealers in each brood, not only 5, right?
Either way, you ought to drop some of them to add in a bit at in some form (even if its just toys for the veterans), the bombs on your commissar just aren't going to cut it

Yeah they were squads of size 10 Genestealers. The brackets is what upgrades/wargear each unit has.

I was thinking of playing with the formations in Rising Leviathan 1 earlier maybe I should look into that again.

I still want to run 3 Broodlords, Mainly because I have 3 of them.

The Ministorum Priest is something I would like to add but unforunatly I'm limited with what guys I have for my Genestealer Cult as I've just started out with them (8 with Lasguns, 2 Las Pistol CCW, 1 Bolter PW).

I like the second list with the two broodlord hunting packs. That way you can infiltrate further in and get extremely up close and personal without worrying about having to run far and praying that the opponents shots miss. Plus it still lets you get 2 broodlords out which you really wanted to run the broodlords anyway. The only problems I see you having is against armor. Your guys would have a tough time going up against dreadnoughts or other walkers. Although at the low point level you shouldn't see too many of them. And hope they don't have flamers haha.

i thought that tyranids couldn't have allies?

Technically anyone can have allies they just try to kill each other. But he's playing unbound so anything goes as it is

Yeah that is a glaring weakness with this, it really relies on either the Cult using Melta Bombs or Broodlors rending to take armour out. But thats ok, just makes for a more interesting game if it comes up and they manage to pull it off

I would be suprised to see any fliers in this league, I feel at 750 point unbound, having fliers would be a little weak.

The store I play at everyone is mainly interested in having fun, no real WAAC kind of guys.

Yeah that's the kind of store that makes this game fun. It should be pretty fun to see a squad of devastators suddenly get assaulted by your infiltrating genestealers though! Or anything for that matter.

I think just seeing someone put 30+ Genestealers on the table in a small 750 point game will make people go, "wait whats going on here?"

I think I like the Hunting Pack(s) best...if armor turns into an "issue" you can adjust....
