This is my WIP Scratch Built Dreadnought. This should be done by the end of today, so please be patient. I also want P&M advice. Please do not honeycoat. I can live with someone hating this model, it would be harder to live with the fact that no one's giving me advice. Please give advice.
PS I realise you can not see the head of the Dreadnought. This will be corrected with the finished image.

If you want my honest opinion the thing looks to light. Add some pieces on the back and angle the model flat it looks a little angled up.

1, it's a WIP, I certainly will. 2. The model will be bent over. I had to add a sprue inside to support it and stop it from going up. Thank you.

Right now it looks a bit choppy.
By that i mean the parts don't exactly look like they connect they look almost glued together.
As this is a WIP that shouldn't be a problem but here are some suggestions to give it that more together look.
Imperial:
Alright. First off the feet look very chaos, loyalist dreads don't have talons or anything spikey besides their weapons, which you obviously used for feet. The knee joints aren't of space marine machines i would simply flip the dread arms you're using to give the whole humanoid knee look. The guns dont look connected they look like barrels welded on to arm extensions so smoothing that out with green stuff or "sewing" the pieces together with plasticard is a must. The back really just needs a solid slab of plasticard to close the back so you can't see the inner gubbins. And the plasma cannon's feeder pipe thing isnt connected to anything and it doesnt look attached. I would say extended the bottom of the shoulder down so you can inset the cannon into the arm piece like the majority of other GW dread weapons.
Chaos:
If you're going for a chaos dread you're almost there you have to do alot less than if this is intended to be imperial.
I would start the same way and with the imperial and shape up the body with plasticard to something less exoskeletony especially in the back. Also adding symbols or rot (for nurgle) would help. Overall the "feet" work great for a chaos feel. But you would certainly need to do work on the pelvis as is as very obviously a loyalist dread torso, which is a recognizable piece.

I'm doing Chaos. The idea is that it was stitched together from battle-parts. From Imperial machines. I'm giving it rot in the painted version. I will use Liquid Green Stuff. I also wanted it to look as if it was hacked together, or else it would have looked like this-

The feet are impractical, even by 'WTF grimdark engineering' standards. The talons add some nice chaos flavor, but their angle makes what should be a lumbering death-machine look like it tip-toes daintily around the battlefield. Chop them off, splay them out like toes before you reattach them, and you'll have some meat (well, 'metal'...) actually touching the ground. It'll add a lot more visual heft to the legs without sacrificing the requisite pointy bits.

Honestly the pieces do not look like they were aligned very well. However if you are going to chaos route, you could easily use this to your advantage. You could do a lot of greenstuff nurgle skin growing in the holes to make it looks like the dread is falling apart and being held together with chaos mutation.

As suggested, which I should have done:
Cut the talons off the feet, and re-position them so that they are "flat" against the ground
And a great suggestion about using green-stuff as a "filler" to show a more chaos-corrupted theme.

Agreed, splaying the claws.
Maybe even turn the legs around? Arguably the most interesting parts of the legs are on the back sides of them right now (the tubes, wires, etc). The way they are positioned currently, you just get to look at a rather uninteresting boxy shape. Sure, you could put some decals on there, but if it were me, I'd reverse them. This might also "bulk up" the backside of the model a little bit.
He needs a back panel as well. Give him some back armor, or vents, or pipes or something.
I am intrigued by your "looted" Chaos theme. Can't wait to see more.

I got it done. Just need to snap photos. Thanks for the feedback! I think the finished model looks good for a 12 year old's hand. Thanks!

Looking at your last picture, and I'm not sure if it's there, but I see the pilot of the 'legs' straining out of the sarcophagus. Like he's trying to get out for under the great weight of the dread on top or straining to bite the kneecaps off of he's opponents, and dang it! someone done blowed his legs off!
