The white dwarf profiles are for chaos daemons only.

Daemonkin get their own versions which are different.

The WD ones are only for Chaos Daemons. The Daemonkin codex has their versions in the book, which just happen to be identical.

Why did they actually do this? I figured they would be the same so close to the release.

For all intents and purposes they are the same. They did it so Chaos Daemons would have the new updated variants that Daemonkin gets.

Yeah but apparently the ones in daemonkin can't take rewards while the ones that got released in WD for daemons can. THAT is what doesn't make sense to me. I think they should be identical.

They are not identical at all. Daemonkin ones are do not have daemonic instability and cannot take rewards.

Have a look at the symbol at the very top of each datasheet. Cross reference this with the Faction symbols in the rulebook. That's the Faction those datasheets belong to.

Regardless of what you think they should be (I think so too- but my opinion is irrelevant) it doesn't matter. Because...

Why would they be identical? No units that appear in both codexes are identical why should the BTs be any different? Everything in Chaos Daemons has instability, but gains the Warp storm table and the ability to take gifts. The gifts don't exist in the Daemonkin codex so why would you expect a unit in that codex to have items that you don't have rules for in the codex? Daemonkin instead has Blood tithe and fearless.

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

The changes seem to me as just house keeping (making sure they actually work within the dex)

As a CSM/ Daemon player thats themed mostly Nurgle/ Tzeentch, im not really interested in the new dex

but...

as a model collector, that new BT is BEAUTIFUL.. And thanks to the white dwarf i can bring one of the new variants

In short, SELL MOAR PLASTIC!
